Iv recently bought at 02 edge auto and it all started driving up a slight hill around 40 mph and my tranny shifts into neutral and rpms go way up and theft light flashes. I have to let off the gas and slowly get back on it. It will happen again and again when I give it more gas quickly. I am not to familiar with automatic trannys anyone have any ideas? Iv recently changed the filter and re-sealed the pan and problem still there.

Not to be a wise ass; but, does it have the required amount of fluid in it!! These things act that way when the fluid level is like a quart (or less) low.

IF the fluid level is too low the torque converter won't pass torque to the transmission. Google how to check the fluid level if you don't have the manual.

Yes i have the correct amount of fluid. this was a problem from the guy that sold it to me and I was hoping that it was something such as low fluid but the problem still exists after the new and correct amount of fluid. Im thinking it might be some sensor in the tranny but with the theft light flashing as well its throwing me for a loop. There was an alarm system installed but I have ripped that all out as well but still couldnt find any possible reasons.

Do the electrics try to cut out during that process?

No none of the electrical goes out or dims. it justs acts like it goes into neutral like someone is trying to steal it with the theft light flashing but goes back to normal when I let off the gas and accelerate slowly

Sounds like a sticking solenoid in the valve body. They don't last forever. I had the same problem getting neutral during shifts. I replaced the whole valve body with an upgraded one from CVB (Central Valve Body). It shifts better than new.

Thanks! iv been trying to decide if it is any of the shift solenoids or my other guess would be the electronic pressure control solenoid. Can anyone describe what exactly the electronic pressure control solenoid does because i cannot find a definition that helps me rule this one out or not. Also would you reccomend replacing the whole valve body or just the solenoids? Did your theft light illuminate as well when your transmission was acting up?
