I have access to 400 gallon bowsers filled with them. I could arrange to smuggle a small quantity out. Not enough to run a vehicle but enough to play with.

When you just can’t help yourself....

Oh, I got the housing all cleaned up and painted too. At $16 with a coupon code, it was hard to pass up the Dorman diff cover for painting purposes.

Caliper brackets are drying as I type. Not sure if I’ll order new calipers or not. Nothing wrong with the factory units other than rust.

Picked up new axle shaft seals yesterday. These were surprisingly hard to source locally but I found them at Napa. FAG parts in a Napa box. Everyone else had Ranger 8.8 seals.

That’s it for now. I’ll get some pics in a day or two of the final product. May not be installed but it will be ready to be.

And a front yard poser shot..

Guys weekend camping trip got moved to the weekend after 4th of July so she probably won’t get off road until then. It’ll be interesting to see my buddy follow in his Durango now that the truck isn’t so “stock”. Lock rite should be in the mail pretty quick if amazon quits dragging their feet.

Just in case anyone is wondering, 89-92 floor pans work just fine in 93-97 trucks. There’s one oval hole at the back of the pan that needs to be plugged if you have to go that far.

Anyways, I hopped in the truck this morning and my foot sunk into the floor

43154

I knew this day was coming a couple years ago and had already ordered a replacement pan then for an 89-92 Ranger. Kind of figured, if anything, I could cut it up and reshape it to work.

So I got to work making an even bigger hole
43155

To my surprise the pan dropped right in for the most part. There are a couple VERY small areas that don’t line up quite right but some light hammer work makes them fit up.

So I welded the pan in
43156

You can see in the last pic where I cut the seat mount out to get at the rest of the rust. You can also see the oval hole that has to be filled in. I jumped the gun and welded in what I had cut out of the seat mount. I welded the patch in that oval hole from the top and bottom.

A quick shot of some rubberized underbody coating
43157

Still have this mess to deal with sooner than later
43158

The lower seat belt mount isn’t really doing anything anymore. That will be a hand formed patch with some square tube welded in to bolt the belt to.

The passenger side is still nearly perfect. I don’t think I’m going to put carpet back in quite yet.
43159

So there ya go. If you need pans and don’t feel like dealing with the patching, you can use the older ones.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Good looking truck. Nothing like a lifted rcsb. The looks by far and away outweigh the lack of interior space.

Thanks man. I’ve grown pretty fond of the long bed trucks with a decent lift but I love mine.

Well, a new project followed me home today. Paid $300 for this pile of possibilities.

48715

‘95 F150 XLT 4.9 5-speed 2wd. 190,XXX on the clock. The old 300 overheats but it’s not a head or head gasket related issue. The radiator has a leak at the top of one of the tanks and the fan clutch is lazy. So I’ll throw a new cooling system at it, give it a tune up and drive it. It will eventually get either a 5.0 or 5.8 and 4x4 swap. Wife wants a loud V8 fun truck again.

I grew up in an ‘86 my dad bought in ‘89 so I’m partial to the 7th gen trucks but I like these too!
