v8 conversion v8 swap

I have learned a lot from this forum. On the v8 swap. If I understand correctly I'm supposed to be able to plug the motor and trans harness into my 99 ranger 4.0 harness? Is there anything that has to be modified to make it work on my harness? I know I have pats and have to swap it over to work...
