    Junkyard Digs 1994 Ranger revival

Same. It always felt like the automatic was better tuned for the 2.9's characteristics. Nothing really wrong with the engine itself.

    DAZED N CONFUSED

More information... Was it starting before you replaced the plugs and wires? Does it at least crank, just not fire? Have you checked the codes?

‘88 ranger 5.0 swap 4x4 transmission blew (help needed)

I would strongly encouraging losing the adapter and switching to a full size transmission. It'll involve changing driveshaft lengths, but you'll end up with a unit designed to work behind the V8 rather than one that was marginal behind the V6.

‘88 ranger 5.0 swap 4x4 transmission blew (help needed)

Could you give a little more background? It's hard to tell - do you already have a V8 swap with an adapter to the FM146, or are you considering a swap because the trans ble behind the stock motor?

    Good price? '94 Ranger V6 4x4 - $4900

Looks to be in solid shape. It wouldn't bother me at all to spend that on a clean truck if it's one you like.

how long do you store motor oil ?

That's also a very different situation than oil in a sealed bottle.

how long do you store motor oil ?

In the future I'll probably do the same. I bought a bunch of 5 quart jugs over the years when they were on great sales - like Rotella T6 synthetic for ~$10 a jug, etc. Some of it reappeared in my storage unit recently. I'll use it soon or give it away before it gets much older.

how long do you store motor oil ?

Interesting. Up till now I assumed oil never went bad in the unopened jug.

    Wanted Radio bezels

Dang! I'm pretty sure I threw away one of each of those recently when clearing out a storage unit.

Since the Barra is becoming available in the US

Particularly when you're talking about importing from another continent, making spare parts a nightmare.

Since the Barra is becoming available in the US

Which engine are you referring to? There's a whole series of I6 and V8 'barra' engines in Australia, but those have been out of production for years.

99 Ranger V8 swap and manual to auto conversion

At first glance I don't see why not? But I defer to people that know better. You'd need to splice a couple of wires to make the 4wd lights work on the dash.

99 Ranger V8 swap and manual to auto conversion

The V6's part time case may function that way, but the V8 gets a true AWD case with no external controls whatsoever (and no low range).

    Glittery oil

Honestly most of it wasn't so bad. I took a break for a while when the initial engine build blew up and parked the truck. When I eventually got the thing back together and discovered I'd mixed up the camshafts, even that wasn't a breaking point. I just started unbolting crap, made an...
