    Bought a 98 Ranger with 230,000 miles and a blown motor. Tore it down today and discovered the water pump impeller is rusted completely away. Is this common or a freak thing? The bearings are tight and it showed no signs of leaking but it certainly coudnt pump water. RB

    I can get my hands on a 98 Ranger with a bad 3.0L for a real fair price. I have a 93 Aerostar with a good 3.0L. What would it take to make that engine work in the Ranger? I'm assuming the 98 is distributorless. I think this is the main problem but I'm no 3.0L expert so lay it on me. RB
