    D44/D35 mod

When adapting D44 TTB knuckles etc., to Exploder D35 beams, the common practice is to remove the inner layer of steel from the beams lower ball joint location. Why is this done? https://www.flickr.com/gp/140157233@N08/6Ca68P

    Spindles and bearings

I'm in the process of rebuilding spindle and hub bearings from either an F-150 or FSB. The problem is the new Timken bearings won't slide onto the spindle. The old bearings do, snugly, but the new bearings are getting hung up and just won't go on. I did a light clean up with emory cloth but...

I have read that an Explorer 8.8 is the same from '91 to '01. Discs, drums, no difference. I ordered some axles from Dutchmans in ID. I got the axle sizes from JBG which was 30 11/16 and 27 13/16 ths. Imagine my surprise when the axles I pulled outa my '92 8.8 were 30 1/2 and 27 5/8ths...

    Ford VS Chebbie

I'm getting ready to put disc brakes on my Early Bronco D44. I was talking to some friends who suggested I try to get the chevy disc setup for the D44 over the Ford version. I can get the Ford stuff brand new as a kit but the chevy stuff would be a scavenger hunt. Any ideas why the chevy...

    U joints

I'm going to build a couple of spare D 35 shafts for my B II's. I went to the local NAPA to get 5-760X Spicer joints and was met by the standard slack jawed stare. Long story short, I ended up on line looking for the joints and ran across some Alloy joints with greaseable caps and full circle...

    D44/D35 hybrid

I'm tired of replacing the bearings in my D35. I've been reading up on the D44/D35 hybrid, Todds writeup here, The second wrtiteup here, (I forget who wrote that one), the 6 pages on the Explorer forum and the 94-96 FSB spindle article here on TRS as well as 4x4 Junkies writeup on actually...

    Ignition module question

I've heard that the modules fail when they get hot, how about when they get cold? A week ago we got some -35 weather. I drove my 86 DD home the night it got super cold. Less than 12 hours later it wouldn't start, neither would the other 4 running B II's in the yard. Luckily my F-250 started...
