    '85 Ranger 4x4 Explorer 8.8 Axle Swap

It won't bolt in. You will have to buy spring perches and weld them to the axle. You may have to do something to bolt the driveshaft up Link for more info https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Explorer8_8.shtml

    GM axles

Dana 44 chevy would be too much work for little gain. You could find a 70's ford dana 44 and narrow the passenger side tube. For 33's max daily driving the dana 30 jeep axle would probably be the simplest way to go. Dana 30 should be the same lug pattern you have and you should be able to find...

    axle question

Probably the best upgrade would be to scrap it and get at least a dana 44. You would save yourself money in the long run if you are looking to wheel. My dad destroyed 2 ring gears in his dana 30 early bronco on 29" tires and a very tired 302 v8 plowing snow. Not worth the time or money in my...

    SAS 99 ranger?

Here is a '93 ranger sas which is a little different but the same concept. http://www.rmftc.com/howtos/dana44/dana44.html Dana 44 out of an early bronco would be your best bet (my opinion).
