Yeah her dad had Novas. Mine had Mustangs. My first car was a 66 Mustang coupe with a 289. Then I had an 88 Foxbody 5.0 back in 93. That car is still in the family as my dad now owns and drives it every year. It’s a great survivor car with paint from 94 still on it. I graduated in 2010 to a 67...
Well, I have a 327 on the engine stand. 🤷🏻♂️ This is a 283 bored to 304. Runs awesome. Marks its territory with a tiny leak like all Chevys seem to do, but she sounds good with old school solids and true duals wrapped around a 9” Ford that I had to have narrowed.
You can come over to the...
Thanks for the kind words man. I’m still learning about these Rangers myself. And yeah, the wife is a car girl herself so it makes it easy to bring home strays all the time. Before I got into these trucks I was focused on 50s and 60s rides. This is her 63 SS her and I built together, it’s her...
Well, got the first coat on the underside completed today. Box side gusset rods in Herculiner to match (Like Ketchup, I put that shit on everything !😂) and bolts done up as well. Also installed my LED license plate lights, complete with weather proof plugs in case I have to remove them ever...
Terry, I can’t remember the brand I used, but it comes in quart and gallon sizes. Just grab some cheap dollar store paint brushes and toss them after use. It’s pretty thick stuff and dries very hard and smooth. Doesn’t like UV so it goes under the truck or on interior metal panels or should be...
I also sealed the floor with a quality encapsulation paint brushed on before I layed the killmat. For when you bring moisture in with your boots or a window seal/cowl leak that may develop. Just one more layer of protection for the floor boards.
If you are going to have the headliner and carpet out, maybe install some killmat. I did that on my Ranger build even though I don’t think I documented that in my thread. Should help with road noise and drone, and apparently heat transfer from the exhaust. Got mine off Amazon.
Got a little time today to work on the box. Cleaned and degreased the underside and started the application of Herculiner. Thankfully and proud to say I got none on my Hootus. 😂
Yeah, I found this Explorer seeking a donor for a V8 swap. It blew my mind how nice it was, and there is no way I’m taking it apart. It’s AWD. The price of 1 ton diesel crew cabs these days to replace what I have is stupid here in Canada. If I upgraded to a 6.7L I’d be looking at $60K plus at...
Yeah that’s my biggest “I ain’t asking” bar.
The rest is all braun. 😂😂
I did have a hunk of sched 40 pipe in the corner that I threatened those bolts with if they didn’t play nice. 😂
Looks like it’s making me sign up to read it?? Oh well, recently bought a 2000 Explorer Limited with the 5.0. for a daily to save wear and tear on my F-350 7.3L.
It’s mint and only has 158K kms. Guess I won’t be a poser over there. 😜
Well. Got the box off. Welded nuts to the box bolts. Used the “I’m not asking” breaker bar. My impact wasn’t much help so I worked up a pretty good sweat getting them off. They stayed in one piece this time. Pressure washed the underside. Now I’m off to get more Herculiner for the underside...
Yep. And they usually rust and fuse together. About half of the 12 bolts I removed on the two boxes I’ve already removed sheared in half. That’s why a trap door will be installed for accessing the fuel pump. Already got a lid cut out of my original box. Once this box is on for the last time in...
Yeah I should have taken a pic before I swept out the bucket full of dirt and pine needles that somehow got under that liner. I’m happy with how solid it is.
Yeah Terry, I broke multiple torx bits on the last two. I’m not playing this time. My torx bit was slightly disfigured after I armstronged...
Well, I only got a couple hours to work on the Rangers today as I had to leave and help a friend build some walls. Got the canopy off and the plastic liner out. Then I cleaned the box out and attempted to remove the box bolts. As usual I’m going to have to weld nuts to the torx bolts as they are...
Finally got a day on the shop again. Installed my bumper, trailer hitch, a couple LED cube back up lights and the reverse camera for the stereo. Tomorrow I hope to tackle removing the box from my 91 and getting it prepped for Raptor, and if time, properly fitting the driver side fender that is...
I turned everything black. It was red before. Used SEM interior paint. Masked off all the dash pieces and painted them to keep the chrome. Touched up worn chrome areas. The carpet is new and ordered from LMC.
As for the blue, my Bronco II is just that and I like it. It also has the cloth door...
Yeah the wheels are a little busier in real life than what the pics looked like before I ordered, but they still look good.
I don’t need the compass. My internal one has actually never let me down in my 48 years. (Touch wood). 😜.
I do love the temp sensor for hunting though. It was just a...
On the progress side of things, this is the first day I’ve had in the shop in weeks and I wired up a compass/temp rear view mirror. It’s a must for me, especially for hunting. Picked up the mirror and sensor at a local junk yard for $10. I’m happy with the upgrade even though it’s a, ahem,.. GM...
