    New build?

It's been I few since I've posted anything here so Let me start by saying "Hi". I recently aquired a set of Fiberglass, Gen III, fenders and bedsides. I could turn the "black frog" into a Gen III but, I would have to cut it down to a short box. I don't currently have a Gen III cab. Other...

    hybrid front axle Ford8.8/Dana30

I did pretty much the same thing you did. Light duty 9" housing, CJ5 from the "c's" out, '73 bronco axles, I had to have the 44 side gears cut down a little at a machine shop. Yeah, currie enterprises builds the same thing for around $900 for the bare housing!! Curries also makes custom length...

    hybrid front axle Ford8.8/Dana30

I recently considered the same thing. My deciding factor not to was the axles. I have built 9"/D-30 hybrids. All you have to do is use the d-44 side gears and axles. That doesn't work on an 8.8. Even if you get after market axles made up, when they break, you have to wait for replacements. That...

99' Ford Ranger Engine Swap 3.0L to 4.0L SOHC

Way not worth the trouble!!!! Clean your truck up and sell it, use the money it would cost you to do the swap plus what you get for your truck to buy a Ranger that already has a 4.0 sohc already in it!!! Far less work, same result!!!

    1988 2.3 to 2.9 swap

The '88 would have had the Mitsu trans (unless somebody swapped something else in already). The Bellhousing from any of the early trannies will fit that trans. It wasn't until '89 when they started using the Mazda trans (M5od R1) on certain models. Yes, the computer would be included with the...

    1988 2.3 to 2.9 swap

Transmission, mounts, engine wiring harness, exhaust, radiator, air cleaner assembly,Possibly a few other things I forgot. You can use the manual trans but you will need the bellhousing, flywheel, inspection plate and starter for a 2.9.

    Intermittent tach.

I've got a '96 Ranger, 3.0, auto trans. The tach works when it wants to. I've pulled to instrument panel and cleaned the connections. I have looked over the wiring. There is no misfire when the tach cuts out. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the solution was. I...

    Hi!

I haven't been here for a while so I thought I would drop in and say "Hi". Also, I bought another Ranger, That puts me at 12 RBVs that I currently own. The "new" one is a '96, supercab, 3.0, auto, MANUAL transfer, no power anything(big plus),no rust, few dings,140,000 miles, black. Sorry no...

    Western Michiganders Roll Call

I will be there on sunday as well. I will be in the Black frog, nothing new or special.

    Call me crazy.......

Putting that motor in WILL increase the weight. That is like having 2 Ranger motors in at once. "were there's a will, there's a way"! Without stretching the front fenders, You WILL have to cut out a big chunk of the fire wall. The last 4 cylinders (2 per side) will be behind the firewall.

    4.2 crank in a 4.0L

Yup, completly different engine designs. The 4.0 is a 60 deg v6 and the 4.2 is a 90 deg. Even a good machine shop couldn't make that work.

    Western Michiganders Roll Call

I'm a ways north of you. I've been to silver lake with many of the Cheap thrills guys. I even have a pic on thier website. Every Fathers day I go to Silver lake, We plan on renting a cabin this year. Are you on GL4x4?

    300 I6

Gotta_gofast, you haven't paid very good attention. He can't run a turbo or a v-8 in his class. Will, An fmx and an aod have absolutely not one thing in common and never did. Rusty, he said that he couldn't run an aftermarket intake manifold. That is why I recommended the EFI. You yourself said...

    Rotary?

There was a mazda truck racing where I raced my first Ranger. I thought they said the motor was swapped in. That wankel engine sounded intense! He did really well but. only showed up for about 2 races. It would work much better in a drag racing type situation. Did you know that Chevy built a...

    My boys B-day cake

This was way back in July but, I was way to busy to post it. This is my youngest boys 4th b-day cake. It is supposed to look like a sand dune. The "sand" is cinnamon sugar.

A little problem with my truck. (pics)

I went to the "playground" yesterday and decided I would see how well the old '87 would do it deep snow. We have about 16" of powder on top of about 6" of hard pack. I drove through the plowed snow bank, Up a slight incline, on down into a valley. I came to a stop down in the valley and had to...

    EB 9" vs Explorer 8.8"

If you are going to build a fairly moderate truck with say 35-36" tires and don't ever plan to upgrade The Explorer 8.8 will do nicely. It is easy to work on and has good parts availability. If you want an axle that will work ok for now but, can be upgraded later, You want the 9". Upgrade parts...

    3.8 - 4.2 in to ranger??

The 4.2 will run circles around the 4.0 though. I've driven F150/4.2s with manual trannies that were WAY more fun to drive than any 4.0 I've driven. I haven't had a chance to run a 3.8 split port yet but, I know they are better than the reg 3.8. I'm still looking for a deal on a 4.2. As soon as...

    3.0 to 4.0 woes

I don't think the 3.0 TC will work, You need a 2.9 or 4.0. I think an actual 4.0 would be best. The distance between the crank and the front pump is different between the two motors. The thingy (forget the name) that sticks out the front of the TC is a different size as well (the little stub in...

    Chevy 283 swap

The 4.56 gears put that motor up where it needed to be. At 300hp it was probably 320tQ (rough guess) which would pull like MAD with the gear ratio pulling at the right RPMs. His engine is a 283 though. The 350 heads would put the rpms MUCH higher. the truck he is putting the engine in probably...
