Get going down the highway at a descent speed and then put it in neutral and coast for a bit checking for vibrations. This could help eleminate tires. Check U joints, motor mounts.
There are 2 water temp sensors on the front. Give them a good scrubbing with a brass tooth brush. They get hard water build up on them. Its a freebie fix without throwing parts at it.
I just replaced my 87 Clutch Master Cylider today. No leaks but would lose pressure. Not a terrible job but not fun either. Haynes maual is not the best and not much on Youtube. Somethings I did at the bottom of thread that may help you...
I looked at manual and YouTube for tips on 1st gen trucks. Not much out there. I remove the inner fender. Then dropped reservoir and the two bolts holding the Master Cylinder.
I just pulled the Push Rod out of Master Cylinder. This made it easier for me to use frame if truck to drive the pin...
Thanks guys, it seems really loose with those values but I am glad tos ee you guys with experience stepped in to let me know the correct numbers.
I did tighten as described and I think I have a warped hub. Probably the original hub and needs replaced anyways. I have had them turned in the past...
I have tried flushing radiators. If it has a lot of build up, find a radiator shop that can power flush it. My local shop charges about $35 to do it. It looks like a carwash hand wand and it will blow what looks like mud out of it. That is you you have bad build up in it.
I only know how to post pics from my phone, then I go and edit on the computer. Take picture on phone. I have to use .5 on my iphone 16. If I use 1x it is to large to post. When logged on here, go to the little icon next to the smiley face on the bar at the top of the post The icon is the...
I have a little vibration when braking. Hoping not a warped hub. Haynes Manual values seem a little high. Anybody have some suggestions. YouTube seems to use a lower torque spec.
I tried bleeding air out of the system using a vacuum pump. I did get a few bubbles and thought I might have it fixed. Test run said No!! It felt solid sitting in the shop but think I get to change the master cylinder. Hopefully I can get to it after work this week.
My clutch pedal has been getting spongy. I tried bleeding the system. I am hoping just the Master Cylinder is at fault. I am eventually going to pull transmission this winter to fix rear main and just do a complete clutch job. Just got to get the time to do it.
Besides the battery, I would clean all ground connections. Grounds in links below

I got a fender from the boneyard on. The aftermarket fender I had bowed to far past the door and a big gap between the fender and door. Got my brake slave cylinder replaced. I sanded a lot of the surface rust off that has come on it since last summer. I did get some primer and this winter truck...
That is a nice looking truck you have. You would be surprised at what you can do with what I call a "Rolling Retoration" and is what I like doing best. I have done full frame off restores but that takes a lot of space and time. As long as you are staying with it in stock condition, most things...
Great looking 83 you found and then to get the parts truck running is another great score. I too am not sure why Ford calls then quick disconnects. Once in while one will pop loose but not usually. Looking forward to yout build.
Just got caught up on your build. Your truck has turned out amazing. Seen where you was worried about painitng it yourself and it turned out great. I see you have a ton of fab work from interior to bumper to headache rack. When you look at a project makes you wonder where all the time was spent...
JoshT…. If you were the one asking I meant it for the Fuel Door, I meant it for you then. I must of misread the post.
This is a new yard to me and I let the owner know I don’t destroy several parts just to get one part I want. It goes a long ways to them. I have benefited by showing respect for...
