    99 Ranger front locker

I have broken CVs in a Ranger and Dakota with the Dana 35 front 31-32" tires and an open differential. I definitely don't recommend any type of locker in the front for that reason. If the Powertrax grip pro will work that is what I would go with. However I get around great with just a locked...

    2003 v6 4x4 ranger auto transmission

No, swap to a manual shift transfer case. You can use everything out of a 93-97 Ranger to do that.

    Auto Locking Hub operation

07 should have a live axle but if not put some Mile Marker manual hubs in it.

    1999 4WD system question

Those vacuum hubs are garbage but not a reason to avoid the truck, just put a pair of Mile Marker manual hubs on it.

    Dana 44 gear pattern acceptable?

That's a no go for me. Try to get the pattern like this.

Anything can break, I have seen broken Dana 30, 35, 44, and Dana 60s under Jeeps and Rangers. For what it is though the Dana 30 High pinon holds up pretty well under a Jeep or small truck like a Ranger with 35s or less, and it is one of the cheapest and easiest axles to swap into a Ranger since...

The Ranger isn't that much heavier maybe 300 lbs up front at best, I have armor, a steel bumper and a winch on the front as well which adds weight. I know several people who are running them in Rangers without issue.

Find a high pinion Dana 30 out of a 91-99 Jeep Cherokee XJ. They hold up great to 35s, I have ran mine locked on 35s for years and never had an issue, they are cheap, and they have the same 5x4.5" wheel bolt pattern as the Ranger unlike the newer Dana 30s like suggested above. I have a couple...

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

I was never a fan of selectable lockers. If I were to upgrade I would go with Detroit or Grizzly lockers, stronger and more reliable than any selectable locker. I have a Detroit in the rear of my F250.

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

That's what I did on my Jeep and I have beat on it for 7 years with 35s, they have held up fine. About $1000 cheaper than going with full carrier lockers.

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

All you have to do is get new carrier bearings and a shim kit. Mesure the backlash before you take the old carrier out then set the backlash on the new one the same.

People wondering about the sound, here is a clip from my Jeep with Spartan lockers, they work the same as a lock right. https://youtube.com/shorts/91l9FMEfSFk?feature=shared

Why do you think this? You don't have to regear to change the carrier.

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles on the pavement with mine over the years in several different vehicles and never had a problem.

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

Yes works the same as a Lock Right and the others just more expensive.

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

Mine are quiet because I use 85w140 gear oil. Does great on snowy and wet roads, way better traction than with an open diff.

8.8 4.10 from open to LSD ....can I do this?

I wouldn't waste time or money on a factory limited slip, they aren't very good. Just put a lock right in you current axle and use 85w140 gear oil in your axle to keep it quiet.

    Best Off-Road Ranger

I have zero issues with my MT tires on wet pavement and they last me just as long as AT tires do.

    Best Off-Road Ranger

The mud tires I use are excellent in the snow and ice, don't have one complaint. Try some Mastercraft Courser MXTs if you don't believe me.
