    That’s what my first thought was but the blocks look identical there’s no stop or lip in the tube for the oil pump shaft so I don’t think it could be hitting there

    I have the oil pump removed completely because I couldn’t get it to seat I’ve tried pushing down on it once the gears mesh and it feels like it’s hitting a hard stop Ill try removing the lower intake this weekend since I need to swap that anyway and maybe I can get a better angle on it

    The 99 is on the left the 96 is on the right, I put grease on it to see where it was touching it doesn’t look like it’s hitting anything obvious

    I have a 99 4.0 ranger with a bad engine, I pulled the engine out of a 96 and cannot get the cam synchro from the 99 to seat right on the 96 engine it sits about an 1/8 of an inch too high and help would be appreciated
