hello everyone back at you guys today with another question. so my truck is running good but at idle the whole truck shakes pretty good like the steering wheel vibrates and generally the whole truck.
and when i shift into another gear it jolts also when im on the throttle the truck vibrates...
I did not have the cam synchronizer out while doing the valve spring would that make the engine run a bit rough? I was also thinking what’s the likelihood of the engine mounts being bad?
yes i checked the passenger side and cylender 3 spring was definitely broke snapped right in half and i checked the drivers side but they looked good so it could be the timing skipped a tooth how would i check that?
i have one more thing tho so the truck shakes a little bit more than usual now and the engine runs a small bit rougher than before now, also when i rev it it sound like it cuts out and then continues the rev that wasent like that before any suggestions?
yeah it must be because after all it is the hot exhaust coming out of the engine and not the cold air coming in but thank you for your help and support i just love my little ranger and glad to be working on it on my own.
hello everyone i am glad to announce that it was just the valve spring !!!
so we opened up the valve cover and sure enough the valve spring for cylinder 3 (exhaust) was snapped in half so we took it out and checked the connecting rod and it was good but put the new spring in and started her up...
Ahh ok so yeah the connecting rod looked good so not replacing that and so with the rocker arm but I am replacing the spring I hope it’s 1.836 or something like that also thank you I really need a little camera like that
ohh ok i have 4 springs coming i got the 1.8something height spring size and there on there way but i have one very important question and that is would the exhaust valve have been hit by the piston at all or is it fine because i am worried that i will put the new spring in and then the valve is...
Yes I have compressor at home here and the spring tool from my dad I think I will order the 1.834 first because they come in packs of 4 but they are cheap so I could get both I shall check my financial situation
ok that sounds good i have another question I'm on rock auto and there are different sizes and heights of springs and i am not too sure which one to buy
right that what I'm afraid of but i believe i am just going to order a new valve cover gasket and spring and replace it and see what happens but you dont know how happy i was to see that spring and when i tell you its doing nothing anymore it is not doing anything i can really move that rocker...
ok yeah the pushrod is still straight as an arrow and undamaged should i still replace it i know i have to replace the spring but should i also replace the push rod and rocker arm ?
Ok I pulled the valve cover today and found something very interesting the return spring for the exhaust for 3 has snapped and I believe that’s causing my issue now I must ask what to replace obviously the spring and valve cover gasket but should I replace anything else?
you are completely right but at this point i am focusing on the cylinder with 0!!! compression and while im in there i will look at 1 i don't know how i would look at 4 but if the problem persist i will look into that thank you for being the voice of reason :)
that's what i am saying but of course this happens to me i am thinking its a spring or rocker because i here that continuous clicking and not like a tinging like a valve is bounding around in my combustion chamber also i will send some pics of my previous repairs on her that i did in the mean...
 right at this point imin it to get my truck running right again and to get the experience putting full engine rebuild on my resume would be great also old is good because age comes with wisdom and knowledge
