I have a 88 ranger and headlight switch was bad when you pull the
headlights on you would have to push the handle in about 1/16 of a
inch and the dash would light up and the stem wobbled so I replaced the switch and touched the steel and it blew the fuse replaced fuse put
everything back...
88 ranger 4x4, 2.9 driving normally at 35 or 40 check engine
light comes on for about 10 sec. and goes out.
when it comes on engine goes flat till it goes out.
anyone have any answers?

took it to trans shop because of no o/d
o/d band burned up
problem is at 55mph motor is revving
at 2800 rpms
235/75/15 tires
3.73 gear now would like to go
lower to bring rpms down
what do you guys think?
got prices to re-build...

the reason for the change is my a4ld has no o/d
looked under the hood no kick down cable
and at 55mph the tach reads 2500rpms
seems a little high. it now has 3.73 want to
go lower whats next 3.45 or?
running 235/75/15 now and taller than stock

quick question will my 88 ranger pass the sniff test in n.j.?
replaced bad 0/2 sensor and both in-line cats were plugged
so I ran a 2 inch piece of pipe and broke it all up.
can not afford new cats $300 so hopefully I can get through

I had my friend change my o/2 sensor in my 2.9 because the last owner
cut the wire at the sensor and left the pig tail hanging instead of tying it
up and it melted on the exhaust. before the o/2 change the truck ran great
a little rich and revved to the moon now it only revs to 2500 and hardly...
how do you clean the throttle body on a 2.9?
just take off intake hose and hold open butterfly
and spray brake clean or throttle body cleaner?

did anyone ever weld the spider gears on a 7.5?
I know you can buy a lock-rite set-up but it is
costly.I ran a stockcar back in the 70s and
could not afford a quick change so I welded
it up and lasted 2 seasons let me know
what you think.

before I attempt it is it possible to replace the oil pan gaset on my 88

my 2.9 is hard to start have to pump it like a carb if not it just turns over
when it does start it runs like it has 4 cyc. and after about 1 minute or so clears up. new plugs,wires,cap,rotor any help would be appreciated thanks.

what is the biggest tire I can put on my 88 ranger 4x4
with the leveling spacers I read about in the technical
section. somewhere on here someone said 265/75/15
or 31x10.50.
