Front Sway Bar Link - drivers side bushings keep failing

Thanks for the heads up. I have just been reading some other comments along the same lines. I'm leaning towards a softer ride if possible. I'm sure the original OEM material will out last me.

Front Sway Bar Link - drivers side bushings keep failing

I'm happy to report mine are looking good now. I've put a few miles on since loosening them off and no new cracks or splits. I've read varying reviews on the Energy Suspension stuff. It sounds like you guys have had good results. My next job is replacing body mounts - looks like Energy...

Understood, thanks. I've replaced the broken ones and backed them off accordingly.

Front Sway Bar Link - drivers side bushings keep failing

Thanks very much for the advice. Thankfully they are relatively inexpensive and super easy to replace.

Front Sway Bar Link - drivers side bushings keep failing

I thought about that when I put them in. Everything seemed quite smooth. Looks like the lower bush under the control arm has split again too.

Front Sway Bar Link - drivers side bushings keep failing

I replaced my sway bar links last month and noticed the drivers side bushings were completely torn up after 300 miles. So I replaced with new ones and 15 miles later, the upper bushing - the one on top of the sway bar is already cracked again. I thought I might have torqued them up too tight the...

    Steering Shaft Boot

Do you have to disconnect the battery when you take the shaft out? I'm never sure what might deploy the Airbag when working on steering components.

    Rough idle, IAC valve?

With mine it is definitely a combination of things. Each thing I've done has improved the idle bit by bit. Replaced the IAC, cleaned the MAF and replaced the fuel filter (which looked like the original from the amount of gunk all over it - had to pry it out of the clip with a pry bar). Still...

That looks great. Just noticed mine looks like the photo on the left.

    Rough idle, IAC valve?

I too have a rough idle. I just replaced my IAC and idle sits at 900 rpm when warm which I believe is correct. The idle smoothed a little bit but is still lumpy. Spark plugs are new so I'm trying new plug wires tomorrow. If that doesn't solve it, a new coil pack will be next. I know they are all...

    Always wanted a pickup!

Thanks everyone. I see I didn't have reply notifications on. Just ordered a couple of universal Energy ones. I'll see how they go. Don't have any off roading planned but LA roads can be pretty appalling.

    Always wanted a pickup!

I bought a well used (260K miles) 2003 XLT 3.0L a couple of weeks ago. It is nice and straight and a California vehicle, so no rust. It had a big low end knock so a local shop swapped in a decent lower mileage engine and it purrs pretty nicely now. I'm retired and have plenty of time to tinker...
