The rangers 2.3 is done. just waiting on valve cover bolts to come in. I am having trouble with my valve cover, i have all the bolts and installed them but some would not torque, only spin. worried i pulled and inspected all the bolts and not were stripped or broken. so thats a little odd.
Build is almost done! just working on getting the camshafts back in. problem is, i did not label my cam caps. is there a certain order these must go on? will i be able to tell but the numbers printed onto said caps?
Also, this fell out of the head and i have no clue what it is.
Alrighty guys after a whopping month i got all my parts in and started rebuilding the 2.3 today. Got crank and pistons in, got the head on and am about to do the timing chain and oil pump chain. before i put the head on i put some primer on and some black engine enamel. gonna go with red valve...
I’ve definitely learned my lesson. I had to buy a whole new set of pistons, as I couldn’t buy the same one as a single. And I still have to bring it back to the machinist to get it pressed back on. It’s always something, delay after delay. Almost done with my 66 project atleast. Just recently...
I was, yes. A little rental from autozone. After the first try this happened so I chose not to use it on the other pistons. Gonna borrow one I used before from my local machinist.
Here’s how it’s going so far. Would be done if my piston didn’t get a little funked up on install but hopefully It was for the best seeing if the main bolts can’t be reused.
sweet dreams my ranger buddies
After much delay i got the crankshaft back earlier this week and during install of my new pistons i broke one very slightly so i am waiting on a replacement, i started a new thread asking this question but i am thinking that the main bolts are torque to yield and not reuseable? do i need to take...
i would rather support a local business anyway! this machine shop has previously machined my 5.3,6.0, and 4.9! i trust these guys more than anyone else
after much delay being on vacation i came back yesterday and tried this. it broke the engine loose and got to cranking on it as soon as i got it in my garage. Got to dissasembling it and could tell my chain to my oil pump was broken, i dont know if it broke when i was the engine out, or if thats...
torque convert bolts off, bellhousing and engine mount bolts have been off, even remember to get the transcooler lines off, and the bastard still isnt coming loose
