    The torque converter when it's fully seated in the transmission will actually rub the inside of the bell housing when you spin it. If you try to install the transmission without the converter fully seated, you will damage the transmission.

    2.9 is a metric motor so I doubt a 302, 351 or a 460 would work. One from a 2.8 might work as the 2.8 and 2.9 are both Cologne engines. I would bet someone here might have one, you might want to post a part wanted add.

    If you're changing the distributor pick up, you may want to replace the module also if you do get the Motocraft one Rock Auto has them the cheapest DY1284 and there $63.79 which is about half of what everyone else wants.

    Fuel pump or pumps will only run under certain conditions. When you turn the key on the PCM will command the fuel pumps for about 3 seconds to prime the system and then shut off the pumps, when you crank the engine, it will again turn on the pumps as long as it see's engine rotation thru the PIP...

    Impact wrench is the best way, Harbor Freight sells a corded 1/2-inch drive impact that will do it.

    Check for a date code on the back of the bearing shell and see if it matches up to the truck you are working on.
