The wifes old escape was classed by the EPA as a "light duty truck" per the emission label. Obviously their defintions of what is technically a "truck" is pretty loose
OEMs tend to play games to classify vehicles as Light Duty Trucks:

"Many SUVs and minivans are considered light duty trucks. Since vehicle manufacturers, and not EPA, determines the GVWR for vehicles and their other characteristics that determine the car/truck classification, EPA has not compiled a list of make/models by model year that classify vehicles."

Grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s
and we know the oems do that so they can put a good gas mileage vehicle into a class that gets worse to make it stay within what the gov wants for that class.

Yep. Chrysler took advantage of that with the PT Cruiser 20 years ago.

Does that make it a TRUCK?
I know a guy that uses old caravans as trucks.

Ditch the rear seats, easy to load/unload and nothing gets wet.

My dad did this with his Aerostar. A Honda FourTrax will fit right in there.

That sounds like he uses them as cargo vans.

The Maverick is more of a truck then an F-150 with 4WD and a 6.2L. According to this article.
Click bait for sure, but still true.

My ranger can legally tow more then my old F-150 could.

My dad did this with his Aerostar. A Honda FourTrax will fit right in there.
I knew a guy that set up a caravan for hauling his snowmobile to the mountains. It was cheaper than a trailer and he had a place to sleep if needed, as well as summer storage. I think the Aerostars were body-on-frame so very truckish. My now wife had one when I met her, we called it the G-wagon. It was a mess, had been in a few collisions, most of the exhaust gone, the little side window by the mirror on the passenger side was broken out. I patched it together and used it when working the sugarbeet harvest when I was in school. I lived in the van, sleeping between classes and working through the night, for a month or so. It worked awesome. We ended up selling it after the side door locked itself shut and wouldn't open. All in all, that was a great rig.

The other one I miss is my parents' Astro. That was the family hauler when I was growing up. It was AWD and unstoppable in the snow. The bumper hung real low and was kind of vee shaped so it would push enough now to either side that it cleared the undercarriage. They gave it to me and because I was so smart when I was younger I traded it for an Xterra.

What F150 comes with a 6.2L?
It was available from 2010-2014 in the Raptor and HD editions apparently.

That said, I'm pretty convinced Motor Biscuit is practically bot driven click bait nonsense at this point.
