I got them weeks ago & had the recall taken care of on the 1st of December.

Yes. Took it to the dealer last week. Also the rear seat child seat restraints.

Yes, and when I called the dealer they had no Idea what I was talking about. I did the inspection myself and found no issues. Took it in anyway just to comply with the recall so they won't keep sending notices. They told me the child seat repair could take months before parts are available. Good thing its not an issue for me.

I look at it this way, one way or another, we are paying for it by buying their product. One might as well get the fix done. I may be a selling point in the future, maybe.
Agreed, the seat belts got a clean bill of health by the dealer and they are going to notify me when the child seat parts are available so I can have them replaced even though I don't need them myself. I don't even have the seat bases in the truck because I carry tool bags back there.

I don't know. I simply don't like folks messing with my vehicle.

What will the technician screw up.. while doing the recall work? Will they update software, or do something you didn't know they were going to do?

The other issue for us is it's a 45 minute drive, one way, to get to a Ford dealer.

If the technician messes something up, the dealer is liable.

It is also my understanding that unless it’s a major, blatantly obvious safety issue, the technician is to stick to the work order with the exception of basic services like checking tire pressure and fluid levels. Even then, they have to get permission to do any work not on the work order. If they don’t, there is monetary and legal ramimifications

Sure, they are liable... and I get to spend another day driving back to the dealership to get it fixed.

Did I ever tell you about the time I took my factory fresh, never been messed with, truck into the dealership for new front shocks, and when I got it home there were no cotter pins in the castle nuts, the steering wheel was crooked and the tie rod adjustment sleeve nut was rounded off like they had used an adjustable wrench on it?

That’s when you put Ford on blast at both the dealership, regional, and corporate level. A dealership worth it’s salt will make sure there are consequences for the technician and your problem is fixed. If there isn’t, stop using them.

I did that with my local Honda dealer for a similar reason. The parts counter was great but apparently the service department refused to do anything about the bubba they had screwing up people’s vehicles. The Service Manager, Regional Manager, and Honda Corporate heard about it. They even had the nerve to send me multiple surveys after that asking about my experience...

My "adventure" was at a Toyota dealership, back in 2014 when we owned our 2002 Tacoma. I called corporate, they said the dealership was independent, nothing they could do. You could tell they couldn't care less. That's one reason I'm driving a Ford now.

I'm weary from fighting battles due to people not doing their jobs right. It's like pissin in a wet suit, you get this warm feeling, but in the end your still swimming in piss.
