How’s it going everyone. New guy here. :bye:

just joining up here but I’ve been a ranger owner since I was 18. My first car ever, bought for me by my uncle, my dad’s brother. They both have always been big car guys and though I may not be as knowledgeable, I grew up loving car culture and have a respect and appreciation for American classics.

I got a pretty clean looking 1990, 4-cylinder Ranger but have since beat the poor thing down a little with a few minor accidents. I’m here for some guidance and advice on restoring the poor thing back to it’s prior glory. Looking to upgrade to a V6 and get a new tranny along with it and eventually get to the interior and body, but starting with the engine and transmission.

I look forward to some insightful and casual conversations with you all.

Have a good one. 😁🤙

That's a very sweet looking ride.
What about turbocharging the i4?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Thank you very much!

And please forgive me as I never put myself into a car community like this or even group of friends or anything so there’s some basic terms or whatever that I’m not familiar with. Even with my dad and uncle, I never really talked cars with them often so forgive me if I have “stupid questions” but I ask along the way to ensure I understand what you mean.. “i4” meaning the 4-cylinder it has now? I was actually thinking to upgrade to a V6 AND turbocharge that baby.

How does the 4 cylinder run? If it's in decent shape I would suggest learning the ropes on it for now. A turbocharged 4 will get good fuel mileage and be quite peppy to.
If you do go with a 6, there are lots of people on here that will help. This forum is a great community.
