Just the right size to touch the ground.
These are just strainers, no moving parts. Not much could go wrong if you just secure them tightly.
Yeah, you'd think that. You'd also think their gaskets/seals supplied with an oil cooler would be fine too. Until you find out they disintegrate in thr presence of oil.

Taking a poll. Please chime in.

I got the 87 all primed, and I got the first slop coat of red and black on it. This will be sanded and get more coats. I’m still figuring out where I’m going to do the exact transitions between red and black, and there will be some pin stripes/side molding, other jewelry/eye candy. I put a lot of thought in it (thought is free, especially at my HP). I saw the red cap, B pillar and back of the cab in images of full size trucks, and thought it would look good on this Ranger, but it’s not jumping out at me now. So I thought I’d take a poll.

If you like it as is, give me a blue “like” 👍

If you hate it and think it should be all black, give me a red angry face 😡

And if you think the top and the bed-light panel only should be red, the truck bed side black, give me a wow face. 😲

& it will probably have one of those aluminum caps, black or satin black, on it most of the time.

Please put an appropriate amount of time and consideration in this before voting. Rustoleum is creeping up on $9 a can, and it would take a third of a can for each color change. Polls close 2:00AM Saturday pacific time.

& of course I’m open to alternate suggestions. Thanks in advance!

& remember it started as the image in my signature....

EDIT FOR CLARITY: We’re only reviewing the red on the back & top of the cab.

My vote is for top of cab, all black. And black strip along bottom needs to come up higher.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I was supposed to go to an offriad park today. But they closed pending the outcome of a town hall meeting. Neighbors have been complaining about noise. Unfortunately, some idiots ignore the rules and go out there with loud exhausts or no mufflers.

Anyway, I took advantage of the weather and started my snorkel project. It's been on the back burner for quite a while. I got most of it done. Still need to wire in the different style plug for the MAF sensor. It's still a 4-wire sensor for a 3.0l. So I'm assuming it should work. Also have to re-fasten the top of the radiator. I had to cut the mounting tabs off to angle it forward and get some extra clearance for the intake piping.

If you turned that cap around you could 100% more bugs and snow. :icon_idea:

Snow? What's that?

That's exactly why it's turned that way. Splashing water will stay out better. This project may still evolve over time. But I think I have a pretty good start on it.
