Finishing up my remote start install, keep reading conflicting things online.
Is there a nice convenient spot under the dash for tapping into the tach? Or do I need to dig through the big bundle that comes in from the engine bay?
Does anyone have a pinout for the headlight switch? The colours don't match what the Hanes manual says.
Finally the door locks. Where is the best place to tap those wires?
I have no idea if the truck had factory keyless, I never got a remote with the truck.
Thanks everyone

2004 was first year of the digital dash, the HEC, and PATS is in the digital dash

There is still a Tan/yellow wire that runs from computer(pin 48) to HEC(pin 6 Connector A) that has the tach signal on it

Either door switch is a master, unlocks or locks both doors, wires can be accessed at the SJB as well, wiring in attachment below

And 2 attachments for head light switch pins

Everything is installed and hooked up correctly, however it will not start properly.
The brake switch is acting like the crank signal somehow.
Hit the start button everything comes on normally but the truck won't crank. Give the brake pedal a quick press and the truck starts. Pressing down the brake pedal then kills the truck like normal, turning the ignition on before pressing the brake pedal to shift out of park and drive away works as normal.
I've installed few remote starters on Hondas, this is the first Ford that I've done and I've never encountered this before

Does your foot need to be on the brake when you normally start it?
Usually that's just to shift out of Park or into 4Low(4x4)

Not seeing that as required in 2004 starting system
Does the e-brake need to be set, for remote start????

It will start normally without the brake pedal being pressed.
E-brake is not required, and it is not hooked up.
It's a very weird problem, would you happen to have a diagram showing the other wires connected to the brake switch?
Currently I'm tapped into the light green wire as per my source document, just wondering if there's another wire that may work

The light green wire at brake pedal switch is the 12volts that goes to brake light bulbs

The brake switch also has a "sensor" part that is separate but inside the same switch
It is a GROUND when pedal is up and 12v when pedal is down
Its the RED/light green stripe wire, not to be confused with the light green/red stripe wire thats 12v all the time for brake lights

Seen here in a 2004 4WD diagram

Switched to the red+Lt Gen wire, made no difference. Leaning towards an internal fault with the module itself at this point.
Also tried starting it without the wire hooked up, made no difference

Well module is looking for something to complete start up check list

From your description its 12volts on the wire you originally had on the light green wire, since you said it started up if you pressed on brake pedal
So I assume module does a simulation of key on to boot up the PCM, so you need to give that wire 12v at that time and it should start up

The module normally handles that, I've tried starting with the brake pedal held down and it won't start since holding the brake pedal is a kill signal. Going to grab another module on Monday, need to pop this one open and see if I can find any damage

Swapped out the module and everything works as it should, Popped the old module open and can't see any damage.
Oh well
