Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
Looking back at the pics...
I thought the "cement glob" was some cool dried lava flow bed or something. They might have used a Pump truck to get the concrete there.

Down the other trails that is exactly what it looked like. I don't think it was a pumper though, it looked like they dumped it at the top and just let it do whatever... like lava.

I wanted to try the other climbs but after the first one I was a little gunshy... and then everybody moved on anyway.

The one to left that merged with this one wasn’t bad. And the next one to the left after that was nothing.

There was a small hill climb toward the main gate that I went on and did high center my ranger. I went up it and because I couldn't see what was in front/ below me I stopped and I was on my frame and still couldn't see much below me. I couldn't back up, all I did was spin tires on both axles. so I said the heck with it and put it back in drive and had just enough bite to pull me forward into an almost straight down dive lol. My 9 year old son had a pucker moment on that one

Down in the bottom of that first quarry there a little climb with a pretty sharp breakover, I wondered if I was going to high center. I didn't feel or hear anything though.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I should have tried some more difficult stuff in the rock quarry.

I thought the same on that trail, it crested over, then went right.

Having a shorter wheelbase than most, it’s rare that I get high centered.......but I sure seem to end up on three wheels a lot. 😀

Actually both would handle it fine.
The VW would have to keep a little tire speed in a few spots of soft sand. An AMC Eagle would be great to crush and light on fire to keep warm when it drops down to 40° at night.
