I worked at an AMC Jeep Dealer back in those days.. I didn't find a single thing to love about them.
Only trouble mine ever had was that something put a hole in the A/C condenser coil and I drove it hard enough to destroy the clutch. After 64k miles I traded it for my F150. I got a lot of speeding tickets in that car.

They had a company who was completely restoring and modifying those but it was extremely expensive.
You're thinking of the old FJ's like the FJ-40.

Sad thing is nowadays one of those would be more capable off road then 99% of pickups/suvs
I thought they were Ford's for the longest time. There were a couple of then around when i was in high school, both had Ranger rims on them. Found out they were AMC today, when i Googled " 4wd station wagon"

I had a buddy that had one back in the 90s. It was fun to ride logging roads and stuff with up north.

Ahh, the 90's. Last generation of real people. Growing up then was great.

I graduated in 82.

Was explaining to the youngsters at work the other day, how credit card transactions worked before the age of computerized POS equipment. Had to google a picture of a credit card imprinting machine.

my first car was a 79 amc concord 2-door sedan. 232 I-6, auto. green with (painted) gold cragar s/s rims, shackle lift in the rear. Looked fast but could barely do the speed limit. the eagle was basically a awd concord, would of loved one-with a V8.

Mine (‘83) had the 258 straight six with a 4 speed manual trans. It wasn’t a speed demon. But it did pretty well with the manual Transmission. I towed a boat with that thing.

I later bought mom and dad’s station wagon version With the auto. I didn’t keep that long.
