Went out yesterday about 30 minutes after the last drive, pushed the unlock and nothing happened. Had to unlock it with the key and when I opened the door, no lights or anything came on. Turned the key and nothing. Dead as a door nail. Tried several times, then used Ford Pass to try a remote start and it cranked right up and everything was back to normal. WTH? This truck is only 3 months old.

These things are hard for a tech to diagnose. Cause if it isn't happening when they look at it... it usually ends up being a NPF situation.

I would keep an incident log and document everything that happens or doesn't happen. These can be clues for the tech to use if it continues to happen intermittently. It almost sounds as if it went into battery protection mode... but it would usually wake up with the key fob.

I carry a 10mm wrench in the console for this very reason. Pop the hood and unhook the negative battery cable. Wait a couple minutes, then hook it back up.

It's like your home or work computer. When it does stupid shit... the 1st thing the IT guy says is "Did you re-boot it".

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
If a tech is to have any chance of diagnosing the problem get it checked as soon as possible after it happens and before you unhook the battery and erase everything.

That's very unfortunate. Hope you have it checked soon.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
This is why I prefer my manual door locks and window cranks, a throttle cable (no fly by wire), and OBDI.

New vehicles are more computer than car. And as @HenryMac said, computers do stupid sh*t.

We had 19 years of "why won't it start?" on this forum before the '19's came out. It is nothing really new, cars have not started since the first one was built.

It's also totally unrelated to helping the OP diagnose his issue.

It sounds like it’s a key fob issue. If it happens again, get it to the dealer.

Computers just run programs.

If it was just the key fob, the interior lights should have come on and the alarm should have sounded. The alarm is armed when you lock the truck with the fob button.

Unhook the battery for 5 or 10 minutes and see if it comes back.

Sometimes newer Fords do this, and unhooking the battery usually fixes it. We have kinda sorta traced the issue back to a glitch in the BCM, but we don't really know why it happens.

FDRS gives us far more access to the permanent memory than IDS ever did. The only way to clear that memory is to physically replace the module.
