Looking for some advice on where to go from here, 1990 ford ranger 2.9 v6.
Was running with a slight misfire changed the plugs and it started fine and worked good, had a new cap and rotor so thought I might as well throw those on and now it’s not starting just cranking.
Put back on the original cap and rotor and same thing. Tried a combination of new/old parts just to see what would happen and still nothing.
Any advice on where to start checking?
Fuel is good, and spark is good.

Welcome to TRS :)

Did you do 50/50 test?
Spray fuel into the engine and see if it starts
If it starts then spark AND spark timing is correct, so you have a fuel delivery issue(injectors or fuel pump)
If it doesn't start, then you have a spark issue
50/50 instant results

This test has been used since 1870's, with the first spark plug engines, so all the bugs have been worked out, lol

Thanks, happy to be here!
I did do that when trouble shooting but ended being a TFI issue swapped over one I had in a 88 bronco and now it works just have to get myself a timing light to adjust it better. Can only get it so good by sound and feel lol

Good stuff

After engine is warmed up you can pull out the SPOUT connector, this is the "vacuum advance" for the TFI system
Then turn distributor for best sound/feel
When you plug back in SPOUT timing will advance about 10-15deg, same as vacuum advance
