Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Usually, the (heater) core/evaporator box on the firewall and attached accumulator, compressor type and mount and drive, control head and duct-work hackery are good indicators. Does the core/evaporator box have an AC charge sticker (or remnants)? I believe the belt diagram sticker shows both, so no help there.

The factory A/C would have the accumulator back towards the heater box the aftermarket system puts a smaller accumulator up front in front of the A/C condenser by the grill....that aftermarket hack system is usually hacked together in a very piss poor manner either from the dealership, or some other A/C shop. I think the factory A/C dash controls has a square push button for the A/C, the aftermarket dash controls has a round push button for the A/C.

Maybe these pictures will help. Not sure if all were this way but my ranger's dealer installed AC has an idler pulley on the left of the engine block when facing it from the front, thought that was kind of dumb, pretty sure a regular A/C compressor belt from a factory AC system would work just fine. I was trying to find pics on the internet to post showing the systems but then I thought heck I got a Bronco 2 and a Ranger with the different systems right here at home HAHA!!

The dealer AC will have a ford oval on the HVAC controls wont they?

Atleast my 83 F150 did.

@wildbill23c - On your dealership AC, is that a Sankyo compressor? I'm trying to wake up brain cells that haven't been used in 30 to 40 years.

About the only thing I like about an aftermarket system over the factory AC, is that the sight glass makes it easier to check the refrigerant charge.

Thank you for adding the pics.

Mine says Seltec on it, I believe its been replaced at some point. Model #: TM-15HD. Funny though it says R12 on it but its got R134A service ports.

Mine doesn't, I'd guess whatever control unit that they had in stock got thrown in and I think that's how they did the A/C installs too with the hackery that took place they did it as quick and cheaply as possible with whatever trash bin parts they could get.
