I have a 96 ranger with the 7.5 3.73 gears I want to know if an 8.8 with 4.10 with swap with it no problem.

1993 to 2009 Rangers(and Mazda B-series) used same axle supports(leaf spring perches) and shock supports, and drive shaft connection

1983-1992 are the same as well but, the axle is 2" narrower

2010/11 will work as well but have disc brakes so some brake modification would be needed

Explorer axles are different

In a 1996 you will need to change speedometer Driven Gear on the transmission to get speedometer to read correctly
You need to use 4.10 ratio and then Tire Diameter to calculate which Driven gear would be best, the gears are not expensive and are easy to change, 1 bolt

An 8.8 from a 4WD will bolt right in place of a 7.5 2WD rear. I know because I did it.
Gotcha… I worded my response poorly. I meant... because of the gear change the OP wanted to do... the recipient should be 2wd. Basically... can't mix match gear sets if 4wd
