swapping 2.9 l wiyh 4cyl.

Nope. It bolts to a 2.9.
ok what im trying to do is take my 2.9 and tranny out and put the dual over head cam motor with 5 speed transmission in .what i need to know is if my trasfer case off of the automatic on the 2.9 will bolt up to the five speed on the 4cyl and if not is there away to make it work. i know i have to change all the wiring and have the harness and the brain for it. this is all new to me thanks for your time.

Which motor do you want to end up with?
i want the 4cyl the 2.9 had a lose of power and finally stop running . i trade for this 4cyl and 5 speed hoping i could just drop it in and go but doesnt sound like it

No, and 4cyl 4wd transmissions don't really grow on trees either.

You said the 2.3l is from a 94... that would be the SOHC 2.3L, not the dual. The DOHC 2.3l wasn’t available until late 01.

ok next question why would the 2.9 suck tranny fluid up into the motor and could that cause the motor to stutter

i pulled the motor out of a wrecked truck that someone had cut the back half off for a trailer there was no paper work except a reg' in the glove box that said 94 on it not sure if it even goes to the truck just assuming and i know what that means lol

On the automatic transmission there is a valve on the outside of the case near the back on passenger side. There is a vacuum line that runs from the valve up to the intake manifold. If the diaphragm breaks then trans fluid gets up into the motor.
(Having a brain fart moment and can't remember the name of the valve)

ok went and pulled tag off the door it says 04/92 does that make a differance no were could i find the motor size

regardless i cant bolt the transfer case to the five speed ill have to find another tranny even if i keep the 2.9 i dont want the automatic id prefer the five speed how hard would it be to find one four the 2.9 insteAD .IM WIEGHING MY OPTIONS I DONT HAVE ALOT OF CASH TO WORK WITH I MIGHT EVEN JUST DROP THE 4 BANGGER IN JUST NOT HOOK UP THE FOUR WHEEL TILL I FIND A TRANNY IF THAT WILL EVEN WORK ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP HERE THANKS

If your short on cash, just replace the vacuum modulator (@alwaysFlOoReD). That’s the cheapest way out. You can have the truck up and running for next to nothing.
