So apparently, according to the new model trainings, the Explorer is going back to being rear wheel drive.

I guess they saw the error of their ways.

I'm way too cheap to buy new, but 450+hp/600+tq, an all-electric range likely to fall somewhere between 25-50 miles, and that amount of style/luxury makes a pretty damn appealing total package. If the economy can hold on a little longer, they'll sell them as fast as they can make them.

Yup, I dug a bit deeper, it's the "Front Display Interface Module", or in layman's terms, the MyTouch display.

Well at least they went one step forward with the rear wheel drive based setup, now if they would drop about 90% of the electronic gadgets it would be a much better vehicle, I don't want that stupid touch screen would be my biggest complaint, and the traction/stability control just have never seemed to work in deep snow country. That push button transmission LOL, going back to the 50's/60's are we.

Been in Ram lately? Some of them have a knob you turn for the transmission. It's been a couple years, but I test drove one like that. Didn't care for it.

You can get it without the touch screen.

As for the push buttons, I thought Chrysler was using them in the 40s.

Could have been back in the 40's as well, I just remember seeing 50's and 60's with them. My grandfather says none of them ever worked right that they'd start shorting out after a while...I imagine with all the electronic stuff today one short in a gear selector button would create a whole chain of not so wanted events like selecting reverse and going forward, selecting a gear and shorting out the computer, who knows, the electronic stuff has gone way too far IMO.

The system is a little more robust than that. It probably does have the ability to put you in reverse when you selected drive, if the right failure occurs just so.
