    Newbie here...

I just found this thread and wanted to add a few things. I recently did the same fix (on an older Ranger) 1. My new radiator did not come with the correct fittings for the transmission lines. I had to use the ones off the old rad. 2. it took a while to get those fittings to stop leaking...

    Replace the alternator issues - ‘86 2.9

A short update. We simply swapped the pulleys. My son did it at his work so I don’t have details on difficulty or special tools, but it’s done. Surprisingly the truck runs sooooo much better! The miss that I have been searching for pretty much since I got the truck is gone. And mileage’s way...

    Coolant Temperature

I remember back in the early 90s when the Miata came out it had a true oil pressure gauge minus the numbers. Forums and dealerships we constantly getting questions from people worried about wrong oil, engine health, etc. simply because the pressure looked “too low” at idle. Rumor at the time was...

    Replace the alternator issues - ‘86 2.9

So my alternator went out this weekend and I’m have trouble finding a replacement. From research and numerous parts stores including Rockauto the are two options: one with external voltage regulator (incorrect wiring and mount) and internal regulator (correct wiring and mount). The big issue is...

It is pretty easy to pull codes without a reader: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/OBD_I.shtml The code list is here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/obd-i-diagnostic-trouble-code-dtc-applications-2-digit-ford-codes/

    Wipers won’t park

Well, thought it was fixed but sadly no. All connections have been cleaned/ checked under the hood so I get power up to the motor with the key on. Inside the motor I did not see anything that appeared to be broken but also did not see the pin that Ron mentioned. I guess now I’m going under...

    Wipers won’t park

Fixed For anyone following, it was (probably) the connector that was the issue. It was pretty dirty inside . A little rolled up sandpaper did the trick.

    Have no check engine system

Up to a certain year Rangers did not have a dash light (my 86 doesn’t either). You can pull codes manually using a test light or volt-ohm meter using the method shown on this page: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/testing-eec-iv-equipped-engines/

    Wipers won’t park

Thanks Ron. Great write up! I’ll get clean the connections and check the voltage this weekend.

    Wipers won’t park

Wipers stopped parking. Turn off wipers and they stop instantly not continuing to the bottom of the windshield. Happened a few times is the past but always healed itself. Intermittent feature also stopped working. Low works as always (didn’t check high). A searching here implies that the...

Bronco IIs at the 2023 Bronco SuperCelebration

Got a some pix of BIIs at the Bronco SuperCelebration in Townsend TN yesterday. Unfortunately I got there late so I might have missed a few. The purple and blue had Dana 44’s in front. Guessing they had full Early Bronco drivetrains. The camo had rear windows that came out. The red was very...

    Rear Cylinder swap questions

That was my thought… I have two… BUT… It was my plan to replace both but after the 1/2 day affair of replacing the first, I’m going to wait. The hard line was rusted to the fittings so I had spend an hour at autozone getting stuff to make a new line. And if that side was brutal the other will...
