My best friend traded a 1957 MGA for a paint job on his Datsun 1600 Roadster. Google that one guys. Anyway, 10+ years later he calls me up "You want that MGA I used to have, the guy I traded it to is going to jail and his roommate said they had to move" I got it for free, got it running and ran out of cash to restore it. Tried to sell it on Ebay - first dance there, I got a $5000 offer. Turned out to be some punk kid that didn't have the money. His dad called all sorry and stuff. Anyway, about a month ago, a guy came by my house and saw it, wanted to buy it and restore it. Looks like the deal is going through for $1500. Those cars were cool, but I don't have the time or $$ to fix it. I think my proceeds will go to fixing the Ranger's AC though. What's the best deal you've gotten on what you've sold?

My cousin worked at a bike shop. Just sellin parts and minor repairs. And this guy walks in and says, "there's a few boxes in the back of my truck. A bike is in there somewhere. My son said it was some fancy thing, started with a D. Idk some foreign crap. 100 bucks and its who ever wants it."
Turned out to be a ducatti 999 chrome that his son tore down after he dropped it and never put back together. Motor tranny everything. My cousin rebuilt it, had it re-chromed and painted. One freakin sweet bike. Sold it about a month ago for 15grand. He had 1200 dollars into the bike. Oh yeah, guy gave him the clean title as well.

My personal best buy was my USMC M1 garand. 150 dollars, was missing the rear sight. Great condition.

The best thing I've ever sold was a '67 Ford F100. I sold it for about $1000 back around 1996. I think if it were 4x4 I would still have it.

I don't really sell stuff. Not that I don't try, I just never find the right buyer.

Now as for good deals, when I was 15 my dad threw me a set of keys, said you owe me $2000, you have how ever long you need to pay it off. Oh, and the truck won't start anymore, no idea what's wrong with it.

$8000, 10 years later, and many headaches, good times, bad ideas, and darn close to 85,000 miles, I have my Ranger.

1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo with a 5 speed. Riot to drive, decent on gas and looked every bit the part.

Sold it to a punk, a couple months later I saw the hood and front end was all mashed up, not to long after that I heard a car that fit its discription perfectly being parted out... I had neither the heart or money to inquire.

Only car I have ever sold.

Only truck I sold was a 1989 Bronco II Eddie Bauer. Bought it for $250 from a junkyard - they got it in, never transferred the title, and were going to crush it. I saved it from the jaws of the crusher, ended up with a clean title, owner of the yard let me work on it in their shop and gave me parts discounts. I spent a bunch of free time at college fixing it up and drove it for two years and change. I probably had $1,200 wrapped up in it by the time I sold it. My parents were insisting that I HAD to get rid of it because there was too many "junk" trucks sitting around home at the time. Wish I wouldn't have sold it.

It sold to one of my college professors for his son for $1,800. I was also hired to repair a few things I hadn't got to on it and got another couple hundred. When I was all done fixing it up I took it for a test drive to make sure it was all working right, and I knew right then I shouldn't have sold it. Well over 200k miles on the original motor and it ran an drove like a new truck at that point.

I heard someone mention to me that they thought they saw it on a flatbed all crunched up not long after that. :(

I bought a 1984 Ford Ranger 4x4 with 86,000 miles on it for $600. Replaced the brakes and rear axle seals and put about 6,000 miles on it. my brother needed a vehicle to drive to California where he was stationed. He told me if it would make it to California he would give me $1000. So he drove it to Cali and back plus put a bunch of miles cruising and wheeling in Cali, and the only thing he ever had to fix was the water pump. Needless to say, $1000 was a steal even for him. We still have the truck even now as he is stationed in pakistan, he won't sell it even though he cant drive it. he says the truck is to good to let go.

OK, I'm questioning your sanity, Robert... (jk, I haven't even met your wife.)

First off, that must be one Helluva ring.

Secondly, what year was the Porsche? An early 1970 911S is sought after, more than the E, T, or the L. And if it's in good condition, it can be had for anywhere from 15K to 30K.

Pics of any of these?

As far as my best sale?

Best thing I ever bought for $150 was a set of 33x12.50x15 Pro Comps with 80% tread on shiny new 15x10 Rockcrawlers. Oh, and the 5th fullsize spare was perfect and had never seen pavement.

Best thing I ever sold: nothing really. Sold a POS Altima once for $600, but that's nothing special.

Pete
