You mean these?

I seen a BII in a junkyard that had those back seats. I remember thinking it was odd they put buckets in the back of BII's but not Explorers and went on my way pillaging.

I have to admit, my BII experiance isn't all that extensive.

It has been a couple years, so I bet if nobody has nabbed them by now they are either shot or crushed.

Those look exactly like seats out of a mid-90s Chevy Astro.

I had a friend email me this morning Joel. He said he remembers seeing a conversion option for a Bronco II that gave it a removable top. I think he called it a Sherrard conversion?

Any ideas on this?

Rear tire carrier was indeed an option but required when you ordered the limited slip rear end. I ordered my '84' without the carrier but it got kicked back from Ford, said I needed to get the rear rack and matching 205 when using the limited slip. I had ordered the 205 tires, that must have meant that the normal inside spare was maybe a 195. Sure don't remember the side panel being anything different than what my roommate had. How rare is a '84' BII with a four speed, that's what he had.

My 84 has the 4 sp. Wish I had the 5. No spare tire carrier. I dont think anything but a donut will fit in the hatch area.

Thanks for confirming what my old mind remembered. Room mate was looking for something like a BII. I helped him, looked at all the others out there. Ended up that we both bought BII's.

This is a rumor list.

1. Pop out Side windows-There is doccumentation that says there were. Owners manual discusses how to remove and store them.

There is a gentlemen in Lancaster, Ohio that has an '84 with a 10/83 production date that has the pop out window's and he has the storage bags with them. He's the original owner. I do have his number here somewhere, let me get a hold of him and get pictures.

2. Rear bucket seats-There are reports that they are out there. No pictures to back it.

3. 4.0L B2 in late 1990-No proof that they exist. If Ford made Prototypes then they would never have been sold, and likey to have been dismantled. 1991 was the intro of the Explorer. Someone that started the rumor likley saw an Explorer Sport 2 door and thought it was a new B2.

I have now seen two of these. The first at a salvage yard (didn't have my camera) the second at a bodyshop. I have posted pic's, including a picture of the emission sticker. Both had production dates of 5/90. From what I understand, they were special order only.

4. 8.8 rear axle.- Rumor and no proof of existance.

5. D35 front axle-*Confirmed*. Nearly all 1990 models will have a D35 axle. 3.73 ratio is a guarantee.

6. M5OD 5 speed trans.-*Confirmed* Most if not all 1990 models will have this as a manual trans. 1989 saw the last of the FM146's.

7. Real 2wd trans without dummy case in 2wd models-Yes and no. later model ones are rumored to have a ranger 2wd trans. AllanD would be able to confirm this.

All I can think of at the moment.
As far as the "panel wagons" go...I found out that a custom shop in Bowling Green, KY. did make a set of bolt on panels to replace the windows. They were originally made for a courier company that was using B2s for intown delivery's in NYC, LA and Philly. The panels are fiberglass and have a raised lip around the edge. They had to use urethane to install them and from what I know, there was no interior panel. There were 125 set's of the panels made and 100 of them went to the courier company. The rest were sold to individuals and several went to Greenwood Ford and were sold thru the part's department. I had posted photo's of two of them on the original board back in 2000, but I believe all of that was lost.

what I want to see on an alleged factory 4.0 Bronco2 is the complete
vehicle WITH the VIN tag and the appropriate "X" in the eights position of the VIN code.

Because it's childishly easy to make a 4.0 look "factory" in a 1990 Bronco2.
IF you have a 1990 4.0 Ranger or a 1991 Explorer to use as a donor.

I've seen several 4.0 Bronco2's, ALL have been "constructs".

BTW, on the Rear bucket seats?

Those were Eddie Bauer seats in the PIC above and of the
four sets I've ever seen three were Eddie Bauer.

what's almost as "neat" is the zipper pouch on the backs of the front seats

Or the same cloth pattern used in Eddie Bauer seats in an Aerostar.

And while "mid position" buckets are seen in Aerostars those aren't
the "neatest" seats, what were are the two bench seats that fold
out flat into a bed (the normal Aerostar seats do not)

i used to own that. the guy who has now is selling. 2 grand and he'll throw in the rockwell axles for free, lol.

anyway, i can confirm..or re confirm rather, the sherrod conversion.
And you should have gotten your ass kicked for taking on a large project with it. Should have left it the way it was.:annoyed::thefinger:
