Come to think of it, I think my new poly bushings were sized to fit the spring eyes without outer sleeves. The Red, energy suspension bushings.

Yeah, I’ve never had to try to remove them without destroying them. Usually it doesn’t matter if they are good or not. But these stupid Explorer springs… Energy Suspension doesn’t make a kit for them, you have to piece something together and because of that, there’s an oddball and a work-around IF the shells aren’t bad…

You want a noisy exhaust leak, try my F-150 with the mighty 300 leaking at both exhaust manifolds to the Y pipe… sounds like an angry farm tractor with no muffler, lol. Flanges and bolts rotted off, I got replacement flanges but need to pull the fender and get in there with the torch, lol

just look at the fender angrily, it should fall off if its as rotted as you have alluded to

Fenders are actually good, I replaced the whole front clip awhile back and it’s doing well. The rest of the cab, the frame, and the bed are, however, a different story…

Third was just awkward because somehow, it got put in from the frame out on the hanger,

They do that from the factory. Really tight between the frame and bolt head. Even if you use a nut if that side you have to cut the bolt flush with the nut. For some reason I feel like I had to remove my hitch as well.

Yup, that’s factory and when I have it apart I always* flip it and trim the bolt if it’s going to touch. I had this all apart before, did a half-frame so that’s on me, not the factory.

This driveshaft yoke issue is going to drive me bonkers…

I’ve been searching and I’m not finding answers, either in the tech archives or otherwise. The yoke that keeps popping up is the Spicer 2-2-939, which apparently takes the 1310 joint. My driveshaft apparently takes the 1330 joint and I can’t seem to find a yoke that is correct. Surely it’s out there, I’m going to double check, but I believe that the 8.8” yoke is the same as the output on the Explorer AWD case. Not sure why this is so difficult.

They make a spicer that has those two sizes on it. Jeep guys use them alot when swapping rear ends

So I was back at it again. Had a bright idea of trying to find a pipe or tube to use as sleeve for the spring eye, but so far all I’ve found is a brass tube that’s almost the right size… $50/foot and a carbon fiber tube that’s perfect for $79/foot. Seems a little excessive.

Cleaned up the backing plate from the junkyard and brake parts. Got the drivers side together and the emergency brake shoes on (eff those stupid springs). Still have to finish the the other side. Got a couple other odds and ends attended to.

Checked the flange yokes, the 8.8” yoke matches the output on the AWD t-case, so that’s what I need.

Today didn't have a good start, got within 2 miles of work and found an icy spot on a downhill full 90 corner... conveniently I was oriented between the two trees between the road and the sidewalk, once the passenger front tire went over the curb (slight ding on the 80's Ranger steelie) the dirt slowed me down, went around the one tree while on the sidewalk and back on the road to work , only got some cedar needles or whatever they're called above the front turn signal and had to readjust the passenger side mirror... Then work sucked...

Then after work I went to Home Depot and picked up one of THESE little guys for the shop, used up a couple gift cards I had so don't have that much in it but it should be a game changer in storage, I already have one of the 72x72 in the shop and one in the garage but decided to go bigger... I know from experience they hold the 17 gallon HDX totes real nice... Now I just gotta get the 12 sheets of OSB we got up over the last couple weeks painted so I can put the shelf up in the corner... That shelf fit perfect from the front of the bed to the end of the tailgate with the tailgate down so no flag needed...
