In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Screwed around today mostly, unloaded the camper off the F350 for the first time in a while and went to Lowes to get some plywood to sheet the inside of the shop but talked myself out of it doing price comparisons... I was going to do 15/32" plywood but it's up to almost $21 where 7/16" OSB is $11... at 36 sheets that's either $400 or $756... They had buckets of drywall screws (1 5/8", says around 1900 per bucket) for $10 though so I grabbed one of those

To help myself feel better about being indecisive I pulled the '90 in the shop to figure out why the tail lights weren't working, turns out in October when I was in the dunes and realized they were unplugged I didn't get them plugged in all the way, took an air nozzle and blew it out and plugged it in all the way this time...

Congrats!

Not sure which I like better, your grandson or your fingernails...
My daughter... appears to have giant hands. I will also never understand why they need to paint their nails different colors.

Little guy came 4 weeks early... pretty small @ 5lbs 13oz. Her water broke and he just had to come out. But momma and baby are doing great.

Painting nails is for the birds. I've never understood the reason for it.

Was driving the red truck around, teaching my brother to drive. The thermostat housing exploded and pissed coolant everywhere. Stopped at the dollar store and dumped two gallons in just to get I home.

I never realized this plastic thermostat housing everyone complains about is actually two pieces of plastic welded together. I thought I might just pull it out and replaced it with a new gasket. Nope.

Ordered a new aluminum version.

Drove the blue one to the parts store and to get beer. Few more gallons of coolant.

Remembered I had a set of valve cover gaskets and a pcv for this truck. Figure I already had the thing all apart. The valve cover gaskets were brittle and fell apart trying to pull them out. No wonder it leaked oil like crazy.

265k miles.

Went junkyard shopping today. Going to have to get back there soon, there’s more I need… but I snagged a few parts for my ex-gf (we are still on good terms), and a couple things I needed including a good backing plate for the rear axle I’m putting in the green Ranger ($12 instead of $125 plus shipping), so score for me.

Consider renewing Left+Right OilPressurized TimingTensioners while you've got that ThermoStatHousing out of the way.

PS: BEER and COOLANT; I tend to confuse the definition of those two things.

My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Thought I'd clean under the bed mat, I just used Dawn: Before/after:

IMG_20230130_155700685_HDR.jpg

Turns out no rust at all, pretty cool for 25 years+. Here's the mat, below, I like it a lot, it has fine pebbling on top which acts like a tire tread and keeps stuff from sliding around. If it's in rain, water can collect in low spots at the edges of it, but apparently it doesn't cause a problem. If I'm worried about it and have to move the truck out of the shop for other projects and it gets rained on, not that big a deal to pull the mat out and dry the bed.

Congratulations and glad she’s doing good! One bonus on him coming early is he’s on the smaller side so hopefully delivery was easier for her. My brother in-law’s kids came out around 9lbs….

I thought about that, but I just did them less then 20K ago, so I'm not going to bother.
