ABS system

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger V6 4.0 4WD 5 speed. My abs light comes on and off at the most random times and i need to get it fixed. I have replaced the wheel speed sensor and that didn't work.(only did it because it only cost 17 dollars) The control module and hydraulic unit are both 150+. I haven't had the abs cut on since i replaced the sensor about two days ago. How do i diagnose what is wrong and what is my next step.

If the ABS isnt randomly kicking on and the light stays off id roll with it and see what happens

I would except I’ve had to many close calls of wrecking because my back tires locked up

Have you pulled the rear brake drums and inspected all of the brake parts?

How long has it been since the brakes were fully bled and new fluid put into the system?

If it were me, I'd first make sure that the brakes themselves are are in a correct operating condition before digging any deeper into the ABS. The rear tires locking up can also be caused by the flex hose that goes to the rear axle being internally collapsed. If the flex hoses are still originals, they're well past their "best by" date.

Everything has been replaced aside from the drum it’s self and I haven’t even looked at a flex hose because I was told it was the e-brake

Theres a flex hose running down to the splitter on the rear axle. Your e-brake will be a cable running directly to each drum

The rear brakes shouldn't be locking up... unless you find yourself in frequent panic stop situations or you have issues with the rear brake system.

So what I'm trying to say is... there is zero chance the RABS system is causing your brakes to lock up. It only diverts brake fluid pressure when it senses that BOTH rear wheels are locked up.

So if they're locking up... it is completely the fault of the normal rear brake system minus the RABS portion if it.
