Slow acceleration +funky sounding exhaust

02 4.0 4x4. Starting about a week ago I’ve a significant drop in power, and a very loud exhaust sound, I’ve checked everything and nothing seems loose or leaky, but those can be hard to find. I had an 02 sensor fail awhile ago and it was broken for about 2 months before I finally fixed it, could I possibly have a bad cat? I’m not too sure what to look for for exhaust stuff, but the intake is clean, just put a new filter in when I started noticing the issues, but it’s just slowly gotten worse

No funky smell but it seems to be all the time, even worse at low rpms

If you can unbolt the exhaust in front of the cat! You will notice a difference and yes it will be loud with it unhooked! Better yet crank it up and have someone rev the engine and check your exhaust flow coming out the back of the vehicle! Should be flowing free! If not you definitely have a restriction somewhere.

You can use a Vacuum gauge to test for partially clogged exhaust

Or pull the two upstream O2 sensors and go for a drive, its loud, but if it runs better then exhaust is partially clogged

Stuff like this, that is obvious but not to me....and would take me a lot of time and head scratching to diagnose, and probably some parts....is when I just take it to the dealer.

I tell them what's going on, and I want a diagnosis. Its $100 bucks. They find the problem and ask me if I want it repaired. I tell them nope but they can sell me the parts.

I get the truck and parts home, fix it, and crack a celebratory beer.
