Very true, that guy is plan C, current plan A is the Savage, there's not much in the way of legal buck (blacktail aren't near as plentiful as white tail... and no white tail this side of the rockies) in public land and I've wanted to get my first deer with grandpa's rifle but with no safety (03-A3 problems with a scope...) and the weight last year I drug around the Savage...

100 or 150 is a good distance to see.

Up here, even being able to make a 50 yard shot without hitting a branch or something is a miracle, we got some thick forest.
Same here, even though I do have bolt rifles, the most they ever see is range time. I have a .45/70 Govt and a .30-30 lever gun because of the very reason you state. Those are the ones I take hunting.

Man... this thread is a bad influence on me.

I have myself convinced I NEED a new low recoil carry gun.

Get a .357 you can use .38 +P for low recoil.

my .22 bolt gun gets the most use, between plinking and pest control. I never take it to the range lol, just camping. really need to give her a break and get a lever .22.

Gotta ask, what model that was sporterized? my grandpa sporterized a 03-A3 Springfield, it's a beast at like 9lb (and the hard plastic butt plate leaves a dent when sighting in...), the Savage with synthetic stock is easier to carry around...

It's a M1903 of some kind, probably a Springfield. Have to look up the serial number when I get home. I want to say 1946 or so, but it's been a while since I looked it up.

Get a Henry H001. It’s a budget rifle for them but oh is the action butter smooth and the trigger is so nice.

I have a Taurus 38 special +p in my night stand.

It doesn't change the fact I NEED a new carry weapon.

I tried my buddy's with the octagon barrel. Fell in love. Made a can dance around lobbing em from 150 yards open sights.

Me and a buddy took turns trying to hit a target at 300yrd with mine. Had one guy with a spotting scope and the other guy had to compensate so much you were aiming at the top of the tree line.

Was so slow by the time you hit the target you really couldn't see it move or hear anything. lol

I think someone up in Canada made a video in some extreme long range shooting with a .22lr. They had to use a frozen lake. It took them a while to dial in the Kentucky Windage but they got it. I think it was 1,000 yards and the bullet was at a very steep angle coming down.

Been wanting a new pistol for a little while. Something reasonably concealable.

Unsure what I really want.

I've had XD's and an sr40, currently have an OG LCP, shot all sorts of glocks... so certainly familiar with the plastic striker guns.. but thinking I might want to mix it up a bit with this purchase.

A not-quite full size 1911 would make me happy.. BUT but they can be difficult to live with (especially in my budget).. and the limited capacity is kind of a drag.

A judge would be cool.. but I would have a hard time spending that kind of money on something so simple/basic.. and again.. capacity.

I've always thought that the fiveseven was a pretty sweet pistol.. the FN offering is out of my ideal price range.. but I see ruger has recently started making one of their own. The ruger is still a little too much.. but its such a sweet little pistol I think I could deal with it (plus, that capacity)
Maybe something like Kimber Micro? Not exactly full 1911 but close-to. 1911 definitely can be a budget issue(I've just dropped like 1k+ on Springfield Emmisary 9mm :censored: Don't tell my wife though)
Oh man, ever since I've found this store that sells gun near me ,I've dropped waaaay too much on .223 ammo https://gritrsports.com/shooting/ammunition/rifle-ammo/223-ammo/ and new stuff. Gotta pace myself or I'll go broke

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

If they have Hellcat Micro compact, give it a shot too. Was pretty nice last time I was demo'ing it.
