Pfft. Where's the fun in precise cuts? That's why I switched to metal fab from cabinetry. Half inch too short? Fill it with weld! Miter off? Fry it together and bend it like Beckham!

Kidding of course, Fein makes really nice stuff. I really liked woodworking and took a bunch of VoTech courses in HS. I figured it was a good backup option if engineering didn't work out. I ended up building cabinets and furniture as a job for a couple summers and during holidays while in college and it ruined woodworking for me in two ways. First, production type work vacuums the fun out of anything. Second, after using the industrial (expensive) tools and jigs they had I couldn't go back to the homeowner grade stuff I could afford without getting extremely frustrated.

That only works sometimes lol. Maybe I suck, but if my cuts are off, my miters are off. I use a lot of jigs and clamps. Love the corner vises. Happiness is a perfect 90. And yes homeowner grade sucks compared to professional grade.

To me one of the worst things is the sockets. I don't like the holders where there are inserts for the drive side, they are hard to get on/off. Arranging in a drawer or tray seems to work only so long. Mag strips can be ok but tend to mag them to each other or where you don't want. Last try was arrange them in order on top of a bureau - don't like it, but can find things.

About 5 years ago Lowes had them on clearance to replace them with Kobalt brand ( I prefer the Hansen brand ones.). They were $5 a set. The guys at work went around and bought ever single set left at all the Lowes in the county.

There is a company that makes a set similar to the Hansen ones, but anodized aluminum.

I really like the Hanson ones too. The 3/8 metric pegs are not spaced right for impact sockets though, my Gray Pneumatic 6-7-8-9-10mm sockets don't fit right. No issue with SAE sizes. Pegs need to be spaced out a bit. Other brands of sockets do not fit very well on certain pegs, easy fix usually, drill out the middle of the socket to fit. And have you ever seen a 5/8, 1/4 drive socket???? I have not. Blank spots on my socket racks annoy me.

Canadian Jackson or 'Merican Jackson?

I know you can get them from various high end tool companies but I've never seen one from any other company. Not that it matters, 5/8 (and 11/16) are probably the two sockets I use the least. Just hate seeing that sad, empty peg.

I'm sure most of the name brands make one. Proto and Williams do.

I'll bet Tekton makes one. They are really good about doing complete sets and not skipping sizes like some of the other more inexpensive brands.

The Canadian would be a Vimy (Vimy memorial on backside); so a real Jackson.
