Electric Fan Kit?

I've been trying to find a fan kit for my 1996 B3000 3.0 5speed.
Mostly for mpg increase etc.
I can find the fans but not a kit with on/off temp sensors etc plus the fan or fans?
Is there a plugNplay kit like that or I gotta piece it together myself?
Any help experience appreciated!

This is the kit I bought. I also installed an aftermarket, 4 core all aluminum radiator that was for an explorer. I have all of about 3/16” of clearance between the fan stud on the water pump and the electric fan. But it doesn’t rub and I have taken it through some rocky 4wd roads.

A fan without a shroud is not ideal. 01+ Duratec powered Rangers had factory Efans w/shroud that will bolt directly to other Ranger radiators:

Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance

Just get a temp sensor and wire it up following a basic guide and you'll have bolt in E fan with fully tested OEM functionality and quality.

I've never been able to find CFM specs on that fan... it also isn't OEM quality.... it's Doorman. That system was also not a stand alone efan... it was used in conjunction with a clutch fan.

I'm not saying it wouldn't work though.

Just to clarify... that Doorman efan was only found on 4cyl engines equipped with A/C. Which makes me believe it was more of a booster fan used for A/C. The same vehicle with that efan still uses a mechanical clutch fan to handle engine cooling. I simply question if it is enough to cool the engine standalone.

Also, the 2 speed Taurus fan from middle 90s is an excellent fan with plenty of air flow to keep the Ranger engine cool.

on my 2005 the wires going to that fan are not heavy gage.

I don't know that I'd trust the efan alone to cool a truck towing close to it's max, up a serious grade but It's been cooling my supercharged 3.0 street truck just fine for a decade. If you're not comfortable with a new Dorman version, then you can go to a junkyard and grab an actual Ford one that's 10-20 years old now. There's risk either way I guess.

I'd put the Dorman or OEM Ford e-fan up against an aftermarket fan with no shroud any day personally.

Well I didn't say it wouldn't work... but if it's that good it just makes me wonder why Ford didn't run it stand alone and chose to run a mechanical fan with it. I would think they extensively tested and would have eliminated the clutch fan and saved $10 or $20 per vehicle at a time when they were cost cutting even down to a couple pennies a vehicle. I mean... they had been running efans for decades on other applications. Would be nice to actually see the specs for that fan... but I still guess it isn't big enough.

No argument on the importance of a shroud from me. Shrouds are far more critical with larger gaps between the radiator core and fan blades. Most of these aftermarket e fans shroud themselves and allow very little air to be drawn from around the fan itself.

Back when I had my 2010 I *think* I read a few folks proclaiming that just the supplemental e-fan was enough to keep a 4cyl cool.. but.. those motors seem super over cooled from the factory anyways. That truck was the only vehicle I've driven where sitting at a 1 minute red-light in January would cause the temp guage to drop by a third.

May not be enough fan for a 3.0.
