My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

Scuffing up the inner fenders for my squarebody in prep for Herculiner and there's a bunch of little scratches down to bare metal.

Should I go get a can of primer to hit these spots with before I lay on the herculiner? Or would a good cleaning and coating be sufficient?

Thing will never see the snow/salt, and probably won't even get driven in the rain. I'm really only after a 7/10 product when I'm done.. gotta keep them goals realistic lol.

What does it say on the can? Some products insist on no primer.

Can only tells you to make sure the surface is scuffed, clean, dry, and free of rust/flaking paint.

I think I'm just gonna go get a can of primer. Eff it. With the money I've spend on shipping alone.. another 7$ on a can of primer really isn't a big deal. Good peace of mind at least.

Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
For abs plastic, I would do an acetone wipe to etch then a final wipe with isopropyl alcohol to leave no residue.
