I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
You know....I was at the tiki hut....and a wet t shirt contest popped up back in 06 during Mardi gras in New Orleans... The hottest chick there turned out to be a dude.

A fucking dude!!! That shit really changed my perspective....because I was sober. That place is wild.

I say this ... Because at many automotive events over the last 25 years that I have attended, sometimes they have contraptions that sample like 5 to 10 systems on the same engines.

And, you will feel like I did at the tiki hut.

Shit ain't always what you think you remember it to be...
It all makes sense now...

This one time in ghey camp.....

Well ... My qsx makes 2800 ft lbs at 1600. ..and 675 hp at 2100 and it is slower then smoke off shit ....on big hills she bogs down to a crawl ... But the rig is 120k.... On flats it can do 70 plus.... Which is plenty.

So .... If we were racing the same style ranger..2900 pounds total weight with driver..what wins.???
Gasoline engines..

600 ft lbs...450 hp? 460....

450 ft lbs 600 hp.??? Stroker small block.??

You really don't get it do ya.?.?.?.?

You just really do not have a fucking clue how endothermic reactions are crafted ...

410 ft lb 460 was only a select setup at that . Took that long to get a truck over 400 ft lbs of torque....think long on that one....now 500 with half the motor is a real thing.

What good is that 460 in a primary commuter truck? Like most rangers and the f150.

There is a reason an 3.5 Ecoboost is not in a f250. Same reason I don't have one under the hood of my truck.....why a 118 whp POS diesel lives in there....

But you know .

it is the in a GT...and in the raptor.

Because a 460 all the time is a 460 all the time. Turbocharging it would only make it more useless for something you actually want to use, to do real world stuff....

especially towing....

gallons per mile would not sell to the need torque to tow for a living crowd.

And it's fuggin hungry. 460 gots to eat...

I feed a 7.3 right now....it's a modern 460. All of the techno gee gaw in this environment is just passable.

It's a perfect example to the op.
My 460 commutes just fine.

Other then MPG...which...IMO arnt bad given what it is (10 city/13hwy).

I do understand what youre saying...to a point. But what im saying is, torque is whats important. Im not turning this into a EB vs 460 debate again because we've been down that road and we both know where each other stands and im not rehashing it.

Torque is always going to make for a better "feeling" engine.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
Is the current LS and hemi platform modern?

The Ford cammer v8 they beat themselves to death with ... All these years....

Compared to the LS and HEMI.....

Is a tough argument. Merit for sure.

Then gm put a cammer out.

And the argument is impossible.

That said.

I have a specific combination I can use....well that we use. It takes an old a block 302 or modern version of that block and makes 700 N/A hp and just under 600 ft lbs at the crank.

1 carb...still dizzy.

15 plus thousand in parts.

Will not make it to 50 k miles
I would say yes, LS and Hemi is modern. Even old formats have advanced. Carbs are way better now than back when our options were pretty much leaky holley double pumpers.

Having said that:

Awesome

Not bad

Sad

Aluminum Block?

An old engineer friend of mine worked for Dinan and told me they got just about 1000hp N/A out of the I6 thats in the M3's. Probably will also not make it to 50k miles.

That's I think where the argument comes in. Modern (boosted) motors last 100+ K (maintained), and get 20+ mpgs. I suppose 10 speeds of transmission helps, but that's another argument. Then the electric motors in hybrids is another can of worms. I digress.

We agree.

I loved my 472 and 500 cadi engines.

My 460s all worked.

Just like my 460 working, that eb only gets 8 mpg.

But commuting that eb gets 19 to 22 plus.

And makes more TORQUE AND power at any point on the rpm scale.

So it is all of that and a bag of chips.

That’s kinda what I’m saying. Like with my previous Harley example. The Harley makes its power way down low (like idle and up) so the usable rpm range is also the driving around town range. A little 400cc crotch rocket might get the same results as the Harley, but it’ll be at triple the rpm.

Just curious..do you have a power curve chart of it you can post? At the flywheel? I cant find any for the newer ones

That's close to 600 ft lb crank...570 rated....589 actual. The tire here is nuts

Ridiculous.

I like the 460. As a kid, my dads dually had one, as did buddies dads F350, its what I learned to drive and wrench on. Back when we had magazines, I saw a 460 built by Fueling on the cover of Engine Masters magazine and fell in love. Torque is nice...as for mpg's, well that's what two fuel tanks is for.

So .. wheel Dyno is tough to correct for.

But, pulled down on a engine Dyno the gen 1 is 420 ish ft lb at 2500 rpm.

Gen 2 moves down to 400...but 480 by 3k

Powerboost with pak is 400 plus at 2500. And 570 ish at 3200.

Dude .. no

I spent 450 dollars on fuel in 12 hrs ...

I should have got a diesel. It's 150 bux to fill this bitch up. That's 650 miles towing a 14 k trailer...of course the 3rd tank I drove around on for two days not towing.

It's an oinker.

That diesel drama tho...

We have had three fleet trucks lay down this week over Def issues. Of the 150 miles before limited to 5mph flavor.

One poor guy is from out of town and has been waiting 3 hours now for another truck to come pick him and his tools up.

Oil changes and fuel filters ain't cheap either...

Yes .. artificial Pretend it's cleaning emissions bullshit causes artificial problems.

Very sad.

Across the fleet ..with all of the potential issues and actual issues, the diesels are nearly half the cost to run. Which impresses me.

My position...what I do. Maximum reliability is key... Apparently they just buy the gas.

I am not allowed to have a diesel ...even though it will cost 6 to 10 k less a year to operate.

Most of the "routine" stuff I look up/charge out... my old junk doesn't even have.

Kinda got me thinking about finding a old screw 150, that needs a engine or trans and mixmashin' it with my current one.

Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
24 years of technology makes a difference. Your brand new iPhone 13 (or whatever version they are on) is already out of date before it was sold to you.
