Back in the day... When I was a lathe man at a brake shop, also the tire remover. Land Rover in one bay next to the alignment rack. Car on the alignment rack and raised, puts the tires at about chest level. I pull the PS Rear wheel off and lay it down on the rack ( common practice at the time) As I start to turn around the wheel falls off the rack, hits the floor, tire side down, and bounces, like a basketball, right into the DS rear fender of the LR and bounce off. I almost shat myself. I saw the fender collapse and return to shape under the force of the bouncing tire. Besides the dusty tire track on the fender, there was no evidence of any mishap. Nobody else saw it, and I told no one. I got a terry cloth rag and wiped down the fender. All that happened in less than 2 minutes. Needless to say, after that, every single tire got put down on the ground when I took them off the car.
