Upon furthur reflection, after watching the video graciously provided, I’ve decided that a new thing that’s the product of human ingenuity should not be questioned, but accepted without prejudice.

Rock on fellas and enjoy the holiday season!

Here is a picture from a different angle earlier in the process that should make it more obvious.

It isn't really a new thing so much as an old thing modified to fit a new thing that looks like an old thing.

Well I for one am still scratching my head, you might as well get out the crayons.
Factory stock first Gen radio support. Mildly disappointed none of the other first Gen guys called it out(looking at you @Shran). My new radio is shorter than the factory HU and has a connector that needed clearance too.

Shown in stock form on a factory 86 base am/fm HU sitting upside down. Hooks into a slot in the dash.

My credo
the grey-t escape
backed it out of the garage, first time its been started in a few weeks, maybe close to a month. headed to my folks today, backed up to the house & loaded it up, bulkyest item is a fleabay powerwheels , if it wasnt for that I would of just used the escape. as I had it idling I noticed a drip from the front, damn-another cooling system issue? the connection between heater hose and coolant temperature switch is slightly leaking- right on to the alternator. I wasnt sure what that switch did , thought about just removing it but have since learned I cant do that. I dont really have time to fix it right before leaving in a few hours so Ive rigged a piece of corregated plastic (old political sign) under the leak so it can just go rearward & drip off rather than constantly drip on to the alternator & kill it. Might as well see if I can find a 195 thermostat, the 190 just doesnt seem to be enough, always need radiator covered if below 40 outside, even then heat has never been great in this truck , would be nice if I could change that.

I would look at the heater core first. Reverse flush it. It is probably partially clogged up.

As of 3 years ago, new heater core, 180 thermostat, water pump & fresh coolant. engine radiator was new when I got it. I’ll flush it since system will be apart but im doubtfull thats the issue. I think my heater hoses are original so Im completely replacing those. Got the stuff I need for the hhr 2.2 water pump, guess that will be something I do this week while im off.

180 Stat isn't going to help the heater, just go stock.

I tried a 180, the heater was just warmer than lukewarm.

Swapped out battery, replaced valve cores (Tires Plus installed stems with cores too deep for gauges or air chuck to reach), washed truck and vacuumed interior.
