My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Alright, folks. Sorry I'm starting this late. But I know Y'all will come through. Now accepting photo submissions for next year's TRS Calendar. I'm not going to impose a theme. Just send them in and we'll see what we get. If we get a bunch of photos, we'll vote like last year. If not, I'll use artistic license and put something together.

Here are the rules.

1. Email your full resolution image files to me at "ericsbenner{at}gmail{period}com (you know how to fix that address). Posting photos here on the site does NOT work. The site reduces the file size and I can't use them. We can also transfer files via Google Drive. But email is easier.

2. Image files must be 1600 x 1200 pixels OR LARGER. Bigger is better. Size DOES matter. That translates to 11.29" x 8,79" at 200dpi minimum. Landscape orientation works best. But I can get creative with portrait oriented images.

3. Include the word "calendar" in the subject line. I will set up my email to automatically put these in a special folder so they're easy for me to find in my email. Somebody accused me of playing favorites and ignoring his submission last year. That is not true. I searched my email for hours and never saw any submission from him.

4. In the email, please include some info such as; your user name on the forum, truck info like year, model, engine, modifications, etc. all the stuff that makes you proud of your truck and this photo. Last year, I had to go back and ask a bunch of people for info.

5. I will accept submissions through to Sunday, October 17. I will then get them posted and voting will be open until Sunday, October 31.

Helpful hints;
  • try to get your pictures on a nice day with sunshine or, if at night, make sure there is good lighting.
  • try to get the picture in focus
  • try to make the truck fill most of the picture, but not all the way out to the edges. If I have to zoom in to make it look good, we will lose resolution and It won't be as good.
  • action shots are great
  • Your truck does not have to be "perfect". As seen last year, a well composed artistic picture of an imperfect truck works just as well.
  • Give me the seasons. It makes it easier if I have a photo that naturally looks like winter, spring or fall when I am deciding which truck goes in which month of the calendar.
  • We like ALL types of Rangers/RBV's - RWD, 4x4, lowered, lifted, racers, rat rod Rangers, overlanders, haulers. I will put them all up for voting.
  • You may submit more than one photo. In some cases, I might create a collage for your truck. Otherwise, I will try to choose the best of your submissions for voting.
  • Please don't inundate me with too many photos of your truck. Quality is better than quantity. Pick your best 1-5 pictures.
  • You do NOT need to edit your photos. Sometimes you end up saving the edited version too small. I can fix color and lighting within reason. I also make sure license plates are blanked out to preserve your truck's identity. On one truck last year, I was even able to "splatter snow" on the front license plate to cover it. Someone else asked me to remove a tree that was in an unfortunate place.
Ok, I think that's what I needed to say.

Good luck.

Alright. I didn't publicize this very much this year. That's my fault. As you can see, there wasn't an overabundance of response to the original post either. Even last year, I had to beg over and over to get photos. I have received pictures from one member so far. So...

Let's skip the voting. There's not enough time left for that. I will still put together a calendar. Just submit your photos as outlined above. Pay attention to file size. I will try to fit as many as possible into a calendar we can call our own. The format will be more like the "Rangers in Action" calendar from last year with some pages having multiple pictures if I get enough.

EMAIL your photos to me at the address in rule #1 above. or put them on a hosting website such as Google Drive and give me access to download full resolution files from there. These are the ONLY WAYS to have your photos included.

You have until November 15. Then I should be able to get the calendar ready for ordering by Thanksgiving or the end of November at the latest.

I know there are good pictures out there. stuff from the trail ride, stuff from your own adventures, etc. All types of RBV's are eligible.

Do you still have The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (that you made of my three Rangers)? If you do, can I consider that submitted?

I'm hoping to get most of the trailer repair done so I can take a picture of it with the 2011 for something different. November 15th makes for a tight dead line but it may be do able. If not, I'll come up with something else to meet the dead line. Hardware is being primed and painted for the main counter balance rails. So those can be bolted on fairly soon. The fabrication for the spare tire mount may be an issue since I'm going to have to fabricate on the fly in a very limited allowable space. Anyway, that is the plan. Reality may be different.

Calendars should be available for order in a day or 3. I just finalized the project for review by the printing/sales company. Here is a teaser.
