Hopefully a few pics will clear up the confusion. The seats are different across the generations. My seats are still intact...just folded away....

I feel good enough to get in my truck...and need to go to home Depot to get stuff to fix the roof...storm took out a key drain and wiped out a wall.....bummer.

Between the water dishes/buckets and holes in floor.....and roof....and no doors half the time...
Platform has to be non rotting material bees don't like to eat.

Ah, I took out the 3x 1/2" bolts holding the driver side jump seat to the body. There is yet one more bolt, looks like it's behind the seat belt mounting, looks devilish to get to it. Am I right about that? Maybe can get open end in there. You guys who have done this surely know...
I was able to just squeeze a ratchet and shallow socket to break that back one loose and then finished it with a gear wrench. There is nearly 34 pounds of uselessness in those 2 seats alone.

That was all they weighed? They are way beefier this the old style.

@ bobbywalter my dog same kind and same size, just differen gender looks good

@CrabGuy ok I still have to find "back one". Mine came out no problem, crossing fingers, weird as f that nothing is rusted on this old truck, I expected to have to get my breaker bar. Universal joint for the socket set worked ok for me for the other ones I still can't find that last one, what I was looking at looks like a round-head hex bolt, I don't think it's the one I want.

I guess I'm not following this very well. There are only 5 bolts total, the back 1/2" bolt (1 of 4) is closest to the tunnel and rear wall, it was just a bit harder to access. The other 3 were simple. The larger T-50 Torx for the seat belt is the only other fastener and it holds both the seat bracket and seat belt to the frame. I will reuse the bolts to mount the proposed platform. You got the seats out, that's all that matters.

Not too bad @ 16.2 lbs per seat or about 2 cases of beer for both of them if you add in seat belts.

OK - not sure if we have the same bolt setup. Three of them I can get out pretty easily. There appears to be one more, maybe two, but I think one, holding it in the rear, outboard, In yours, is one not a hex-head? Or are they all hex head 1/2" head bolts? I'd send pic but not sure it would help...

The only one that's not a standard hex bolt on my '99 is for the seat belt buckle assembly. It does need to come out. From memory, it's a large Torx. Probably T-50?

OK thanks, then I'll keep looking. Must be under trim or something. Can't be that complicated!

There's a flap of carpet over a 1/2" bolt and that larger seat belt T-50 bolt in the rear corner of the cab. Use a T-50 Torx, ratchet, and a long extension, no sweat at all. And no, it's not that complicated. Read post #20-there are 5 bolts total, at least there are on my 04. I hope the pics of the passenger side help.

Thanks! Mine might be a little different, I have the left three bolts out (all hex-head) out, left as you look at the picture you posted above. Then there is a piece of plastic trim that covers some of the right side. I can't feel any bolts there, but, I think I can take off the trim(?). The left side of the trim just snaps in, it comes out easy, and the right side of the trim has one of those plastic trim holder buttons, I guess you can pull them out? Then I'd be able to see better what's going on there. I don't have carpet in there like you do. So the design might be a little different, but, there gotta be a way to get the thing out!

Found this, nice tool for the removal of trim buttons:

Are you saying you haven't removed the seat trim yet? I see now why you have been having so many problems accessing the bolts. That plastic plug on the large trim section has to be removed and the trim pulled off as the very 1st step. The short section of trim can stay on the seat as it doesn't intervere with anything. Otherwise it's nearly impossible to get anything in there to loosen the bolts.

It's just a jump seat, not a portal to another dimension. Google search would have prevented all of the issues you have been experiencing. LOL

Well, I don't know... I found a bunch of stuff behind there like some rail clamps for the bed, an odd looking acorn, and some half eaten candy, so I'm still holding out hope for some gold coins.

WIll try Google first, next time, and, thanks.
