Pulled the overflow tank to fish out that stupid little paper gasket from the cap on a antifreeze bottle that fell in it. Got it out and reinstalled. Filled with fresh antifreeze and am good to go.

While not technically my Ranger...

I went to the local pull a part today to see if I could score a set of extra hubs and hardware... very few 97 or older Rangers in the yard, and of the two I found, both were 2wd. Met a 70 year old guy looking for seats for his 2002, we both were at a fairly decent looking 99 that had a practically mint set of seats in it, no tears or large stains. But someone already got the armrest. Helped him get the driver seat out, but the passenger seat bolts were so rusted that his socket wrench with a cheater bar just skipped teeth. He did say the driver side looked like an exact replacement and he still has his armrest. Hopefully it works ot for him, and if not he can comeback with more persuasive tools later on. At least he was able to get the seat to replace the bad one.

Also told him about TRS, he had not heard of it

Been dealing with the company that I ordered the gears for my D35 from. They sent me standard cut gears, when I need reverse cut. They’re starting to make it difficult. I may just cancel the order and buy a new set. I kinda want them to be there before I get home in 2 weeks, so I can finish the install.

Replaced the turn signal switch that broke on my drive home and removed a non working remote start that I installed back when I thought I knew everything about working on things ( I didn't)

Drove it to work, and back home, there the second rockslider on it and stuffed it into the garage before a storm hit so I could finish the last mount if the weather cooperates tomorrow.

So I got one of the heads off the motor that came out of the 92 and discovered where the metal chunks came from…

Also saw that the F-150 has a rotor that’s getting scored up, but of course I can’t find the locking lug nut socket. Really don’t want to destroy the lug nut if I can help it. Things just keep getting better :flipoff:

Just the right size to touch the ground.

Pretty sure you were losing compression on that middle cylinder. I'm afraid I might see some of the same, but probably worse, when I finally tear the 4.0 SOHC down.

The clutch slave cylinder took a dump this morning. All the front stuff is disconnected and dropped. Just need to drop the rear drive shaft and the transmission support. Good times had by none.

Took care of some small stuff on the blue one today. Swapped in the head unit I got from @MaicoDoug works very nice.

Installed an cable strap on the egr tube so it doesn’t break again.

Took the dog for a ride.

Used it as a mobile repair station again. Replaced the windshield washer pump on the trailblazer. Of course nothing is easy in the rust belt as I had to use vise grips to get one of the air cleaner screws out. Fun times.

So I only got the one head off before I remembered about checking the F-150 which lead to as thorough of a search as could be mustered for the wheel lock key that is MIA. There has traditionally been three places I keep it. I am currently rather satisfied that it exists in none of those places at the moment. I used it recently to do a wheel bearing up at my buddies garage and I remember at some point after that seeing it, picking it up, and saying it was going to get put in a safe, secure place. Total blank after that. That safe and secure place should have been one of the three places that it gets kept. I really don’t want to destroy the lug nut. Tried just about everything I could think of to get it off without destroying it and without the key to no avail. Really regretting not getting a spare key for the lugs now.

Brakes for the rear of mom’s SUV we’re supposed to come today and I figured I’d grease the fronts before they could become a problem, well, the inside pad on the one front had apparently already become a problem so now it needs front brakes too. The rears never showed today.

Dads Ranger needs new front wheel bearings, and you may have guessed, but they are somewhere in transit too.

My red Ranger is still waiting for the transmission parts, which you guessed it, are somewhere in transit.

So at the moment, I have zero working vehicles and my parents aren’t much better off. Unless I have an epiphany and find the key for the wheel locks by tomorrow, I’m thinking my next best course of action may be to put a new trans filter in the red Ranger and fresh fluid just so I have something driveable and deal with the valve body in the trans whenever I eventually get the parts. Not sure I have much other options at this point. Going to really hate having to drop the transmission pan twice.
