What's all this nonsense about clean trucks? Got mine muddy and dusty today.
Mine is still hiding in the garage for a car show next weekend lol.

The F-150... is a dirt ball.

First thing to do on a Ranger in a while, and hasn't been on any of mine... this weekend was 50% off at pick n pull so I went scavenging for things that are on my list on my phone... I checked off some things I needed but unfortunately there were no good seats, and due to some lawsuit thing all of the RWD/4x4 vehicles are sitting straight on the ground so I couldn't get a transfer case and driveshafts to make the '98 V8 explorer 4x4 instead of AWD... another time... Anywho, here's a list of what I got:

Rear sliding window for the '97
Wing windows for the extended cab part of the '97
Tach cluster for the '97
Spare grille for the '97
Stock stereo with cassette for the '97 so I can plug in an aux cord, I left the trim around it since the left side lighter port is broke on mine
bed mat for the '90
Electric antenna for the '98 Explorer that isn't even broken and has the trim piece on top

Doesn't seem too bad for like $140 all together... Dang near everything was ~$20 ea except for the bed mat that was $3... I should grab more of those when I see them if they're $6 normally, I've been looking for a new one and they're $50 or so everywhere... This one was under a canopy so it's even pristine... and I found about $2 in change sitting on top of it :)

My credo
Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
Gave the Ranger a bath today. Started it to park it and "check oil" light was on. No oil pressure. Tried to see if I could see the sender wire came off threw the PS wheel well, I could only see the exhaust manifold. I guess tomorrow I'm jacking the truck up to see it the wire came off or I need a new sender.

So Saturday was a lot of prep work for fixing the red Ranger. Got everything situated and got the broken exhaust bolts out of the donor motor. Got the red Ranger moved from my property to where I’m working on it and left a nice trail of oil down the street. Feel like there’s a hole somewhere.

Yesterday was 4th shenanigans. Went to a local lake for awhile, grilled some food, set up and shot off our best fireworks display to date.

Today we return to working on the red Ranger. Gonna see if the motor can be changed in a day. Plus the extra stuff I want to do.

Just remembered the other thing I got at the junkyard... I snabbed a single D35 manual hub and the wheel bearing nuts for both sides in hind site I bet the other hub was probably in the bed or something... but at this point I think I have 4 spares and I haven't broken one yet...

My credo
Mandates are for fascist dictators!
The original discussion has disappeared. IDK.

We need some positive news. What did you do to your Ranger taday?
Secured a large tear in my driver seat with small zip ties. Could have hand sewn but why bother?! Wouldn't mind swapping in the nice leather seats from a 2011 fx4 Ranger one day if I ever got lucky enough to find an available set. Until then.......zip ties will hold me over quite nicely.

I swapped to a smaller supercharger pulley yesterday, small change, doubled the boost.

How much of a change? A tooth or two less or is it a ribbed pulley? If so, a 1/4"? Details! We want details!

So I worked pretty much all day yesterday on the 92 and it fought me randomly the entire way, which is to say that it still has the original motor in it. Everything is disconnected at this point except two bolts, one exhaust and one bell housing. Bell housing bolts didn’t want to break free and I’m down to the one by the heater box. Can’t get enough leverage on it or at least not so far. I so miss the 2” body lift that my choptop has, makes this whole process easier. The exhaust bolt I think I’m going to have to borrow dad’s little torch set and whack it. Once that’s all out, then I just have to convert the other 4.0 and reverse the process
