I'm an engineer, with specialty fixing hybrid electric and conventional vehicles. I am looking for various utility camper options from you guys, that I can adopt, for use as a mobile mechanic workshop. I would have preferred an f150 or RAM truck, for the purpose, but the cost of any of those trucks is too much. So I'm opting to use my ranger 3.0l automatic for the meantime until I get the cash to buy a Ford or FedEx kind of a truck or can for such mobile jobs.

Can anyone recommended any desing, or links online, or just anyone you presently have on your truck? Thanks for your helps.

Like what kind of camper are we talking? Like a camper camper or a camper shell like a topper that just covers the truck bed?

That covers the bed, and my work tools. Something that would have like drawer or shellves for different tools.

I don't know if the heading is wrong, but I just needed something that'd make my truck a mobile mechanic workshop, with the camper providing cover for the bed and tools.

So a Canopy(Cap) for theft prevention and weather proofing not for sleeping in, i.e. "camper"

The caps that have windows on the sides, the windows can be removed and hinged doors installed, or they can be bought that way
These can be good for pulling out tools or parts that can't be reached from tail gate without climbing in

You can build a slide out drawer in the bed with a couple of legs that hold up one end so it can be used for parts and also a work bench, carry a stool as well
Carry a fold up work table as well for places that you can drive close to, its just nice to have a work table, since you already have the stool, lol

You can install a 12volt battery in the bed for power/light, with a charging wire to an isolator in the engine bay, this charges battery when driving, and isolator prevents draining of engine battery so no "no start" when its time to go, lol

Thanks

Yes, looks like a nice setup

Google: pickup truck custom bed drawer images

Should see a few ideas :)

Something like this is purpose built for what YOU need in the end, as far as parts and tools you want/need to have on hand
There are some smart and creative people out there, lol

If you use cordless tools its good to have a charging station for the batteries
This can be in the truck cab and only charges when truck is running, using an inverter is easiest, just make sure the chargers don't DRAIN the plugged in batteries when power is off, most won't..............but test it to see, lol

I've bumped into a few that are this style... They typically have shelves behind the side openings
