Never put off ‘til tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely
Ok, remember the first maiden voyage where the brakes gave out and the radiator spilled all the water, got towed, and then the second maiden voyage where it caught on fire, and all the “it’s alive, ITS ALIVE” stuff? Well, today (Roman Caesar trumpet salute!!!), I drove the 87 4wd 15 miles today!!!

I had the second Covid shot yesterday, so I wasn’t sure at first that I wasn’t simply delirious, but yes, it went forward, steered and stopped pretty much as I wanted it too, almost every time!!

On the brakes, I took them apart (stuck), couldn’t find anything, put them back together (4th time), and they worked perfectly. I was almost disappointed in my frustration. Only thing I can figure is that the outboard pad with the clip wasn’t seated properly.

So, it was 70+ and gorgeous in Atlanta, but from the shot I had no energy, so I went over to the PAP glass shop and got a new windshield installed for $165. Here’s a pic

It’s hard to believe it’s the same truck when it’s not on fire!!

Well after a week of the second roof basket I ordered being lost in Atlanta... it finally appeared on the porch this evening. I have tomorrow off work... the weather is suppose to be near 50 degrees... guessing I might actually get a chance to unbox them and do some measuring.

Well it took 3 weeks but the final chunk of snow finally melted off the windshield. Now that it's cleaned itself off I guess I'll start driving it again...

I hate cleaning snow...

Put a new radiator in with those skinny brackets to hold the electric fan. The plastic ties damaged the radiator after a year plus of driving.

Afterthought on my cheap windshield. They had the windshield (and it’s great), but they didn’t have the clips that hold the trim. They offered to go pick them up for $35. Ouch! I’m trying to do mine as cheap as possible so I said thanks, but no. Only about half of mine were usable, so half my trim is now glued down.

I always hate gluing things down on steel vehicles because it creates a spot where moisture can accumulate and rust through, not that I’ll ever have this thing that long in my lifetime. But I thought I’d mention it for others that you can buy the clips by the zillion for pennies on eBay, but it takes about a month to get them.

My point is, if any of you guys are thinking of replacing your windshield at sometime in the future, buy the clips now for cheap, and when they come in, throw them in the glove box.

Parts store has them too.

I have one Ford screwed up on the mounting peg, it is like 1/8" too deep and a clip will not reach it.

Put it and my son to work hauling debris from the last ice storm. Of course it's about 70 today....

Now if I can just get him to get a haircut! LOL

Hey, I don’t know if you left yet, but I wouldn’t put that hold down strap on the wheel.

LOL looks like something my son would have done, but it's just the tail of the strap and yeah glad it didn't get caught up in anything.

I’ve seen the tail of a strap get caught under a truck tire and rip a good chunk of the bed side off.

Wouldn't doubt it. I had been tucking the tail of it into the bed, and the drop site was less than a mile away on residential streets. Fortunately the hanging strap was well short of reaching the ground.

Probably didn't need a strap at all, but I'd hate for some cop to hassle him about the load not being secured. Saw plenty of trucks without straps on their loads going to the brush drop off though.

I'm sexy.
I completely missed this. Please provide photo evidence with dead chicken. soup, and pickle.

Come to think of it, please review TRS site rules before providing the pickle aspect.

(Seriously interested in Atlanta)
